✨📚NOVEMBER BOOK EVENTS starting off with THE ROAD by Brian Baker on Sat. Nov. 15th at 5pm. The presentation will be in conversation with local author and musician, Tim DeMarco! This is going to be an awesome conversation centered around art, music, travel, and community. Do not miss this! 🎸

🎟️Tickets are moving fast! Jump on a spot while you can! Available in our Link-tree in bio. 👆🏾

📖About the book:

The Road is an illuminating selection of photographs spanning iconic punk rock guitarist Brian Baker’s many years of global touring with Bad Religion, Dag Nasty, and other bands. The images are intelligent and arresting, reflecting time spent both inside and outside the bubble of backstages and tour buses. While touring is easily glamorized, all traveling musicians know that twenty-two hours of every day lack the lights, glitter, and other rock-and-roll trappings. For Baker, some of that time is spent photographing what interests him most in his surroundings. As revealed in The Road, his fascinations range from bizarre highway signage; to unsettling figurines, mannequins, and statuettes; to religious iconography that carries extra weight when one considers the ethos of a band called Bad Religion; to steaming cups of espresso and classic diner meals; to guitars, guitars, and more guitars; and so much more. The Road is designed in collaboration with award-winning photographer and curator Jennifer Sakai. Music lovers across the globe will revel in a Brian Baker’s–eye view of the landscapes he inhabits, and gain insight into the sometimes disquieting and always beautiful imagery that seizes his attention and engages his obsessions.

✍🏼About the Author:

Brian Baker is a punk rock icon who grew up in Washington, DC. Hailed in a 2024 Alternative Press fan poll as one the five greatest punk guitarists of all time, he has been a pioneer of multiple styles and continues to influence and inspire new generations of listeners and players. Baker is most widely recognized for his significant contributions with legendary bands Minor Threat, Bad Religion, and Dag Nasty. He lives in Neptune, New Jersey🫶🏾

✨🙌🏾 COME ON OUT FOR THE BLISS MENAGERIE! Live music full band till 9pm! You do not want to miss this! 💃🏽

Formed out of their collective appreciation for the muddy, gritty, and lush psychedelic sounds of the 60s, The Bliss Menagerie is composed of Fuzz Boy (Danny Cali), Gonzo Bahoo (Greg Sirico), and Goosman (Ayman Kandil).

Blending their melodic sensibilities with a penchant for experimentation, the duo’s sound is both nostalgic yet refreshed—drawing inspiration from the likes of King Gizzard, the Doors, The Beatles, Grateful Dead, Thee Oh Sees, The Elephant 6 Collective and countless others acts.

What started as a one-off session quickly became a steady collaboration with no greater goal than to continue writing songs and playing their music live. More to come soon from Nowhere, USA.

✨📚BOOK EVENT TOMORROW SAT. OCT. 11th AT 5PM! This is a ✌🏾BOOK, BOOK EVENT! Michael Robert Liska will presenting his newest title, ‘Alice, or The Wild Girl’, with his good friend Valerie Stivers, author of ‘The Writer’s Table’. ✍🏼

📖About the book:

In 1856, Lieutenant Henry Aaron Bird makes a startling discovery: a speechless, shipwrecked young girl, living a feral existence on a remote Pacific island. When he exhibits her as a “wild girl” in the chaotic sprawl of early San Francisco, this golden-haired child without a past will be seen by the populace as a scientific curiosity, a titillating image of female savagery, or, for many, a symbol of the unspoiled body of that young country. For Bird, she is a fragile ward in need of protection, whom he keeps drugged and confined when not using her to further his reputation. But Alice will rebel against Bird’s control, and set herself adrift once more in the surreal landscape of 19th century America—a place no less foreign to her than her own troubled past—where she’ll discover that the freedom she desires may have always been an illusion.

Alice, or The Wild Girl takes the reader on a voyage from French Polynesia to the terminus of the American frontier, as it charts the unlikely bond that develops between an aging US naval commander and the lost, damaged girl he attempts to “civilize” as a way of alleviating his own loneliness and ennui. Steeped in period detail and layered with fascinating thematic threads, Michael Robert Liska’s bold tale examines existential questions about the nature of history, time, and identity, in a vanished America that is at once alien and strikingly like our own.

✍🏼 About the Author:

Michael Robert Liska is a fiction writer and co-host of the lowbrow Shakespeare podcast What Ho…A Rat!! His work has appeared on Hobart and McSweeney’s Internet Tendency, as well as in Epoch, The End, and Forever Magazine. His story “The Child Star” appeared in Heresy Press’ inaugural anthology Nothing Sacred: Outspoken Voices in Contemporary Fiction.
