UPDATE: The Town Council meeting will be tomorrow, 9/10/24, at 7pm. It's our understanding that it is open for public comment at the start of the meeting. The Council Chambers are located in the Municipal Building in downtown Herndon, if anyone wants to attend!

Attn. Local Herndon and surrounding area Arts advocates and friends! It has recently come to light that the developers who have created the updated downtown Herndon area are attempting to back out of their original proposal for an 18,000 square foot facility dedicated to the performing and visual arts. They are now offering a space roughly 4,200 square feet! This is barely bigger than the current site, Arts Herndon, which houses a bookstore, an art gallery, the artwork of many local artisans, performances and rehearsals by professional and community artists such Trouble Clefs, a central location for the Herndon Pride Festival, Herndon WinterMarkt...and countless other arts related endeavors. Herndon has been promising a decent center for the arts for decades, and now it is up to the Town Council to decide if they are going to accept the bait and switch proposed by Comstock developers, or move Herndon into the spotlight of arts and culture. This has just recently come to light, so it's short notice, but we still have a chance to make our voices heard before the Town Council meeting TUESDAY night. If you can take a moment to draft a short message to the powers that be, maybe a grass roots effort can render positive results. PM Trouble Clefs ASAP and we'll provide contact info.
