Making funeral flowers is not a regular practice in my studio. As I worked on this celebration of life piece, I kept thinking of the beautiful and colorful life of Wanda Burkhalter. She will be missed by so many!!! I can not imagine the huge weight of sorrow and loss the families in WNC are bearing. I am struggling to just clean up some mud and mess in a basement studio and clear branches out of my garden. My prayers and thoughts for peace and hope are a daily cry of my heart.

When I rebranded (2015) and carried a floral design company into its next season I felt strongly that design principles and seasons of life and rhythms would always be important. Last winter (2024) I felt it was time to pull back serving 12 clients with all our heart and energy with a few corporate events sprinkled in! So now here we are living thru a hurricane. We are safe! We are blessed and my family has big things coming!!! We have a grandson due any day! Our daughter got engaged and life goes on for us. We know many people face such sorrow and grief and have lost loved ones, homes, and business. We truly weep with you. It is a weird mix of sorrow and rejoicing. I can’t get my heart around it and pray for WNC to come forth as a new butterfly burst forth and flies away!’

A gorgeous bride with her besties- the bride’s bouquet was full of lush blooms, greenery and textures. Each maid wore a brass cuff wristlet. We loved working with to deliver and wedding florals!

My blue flower dreams are coming true!!!! This blue ocean chrysanthemum is NOT dyed!!! It is true blue and oh so beautiful. This just made my day and chased the winter blues away!!!

Another prediction for 2024- lots of color! This gown had soft blue- flowing layers that made you think of that clear day when you can see forever! The roses mixed with a variety of blooms and textures appears to float over the gown. Photographer

will not like this post! But hey she never looks at Instagram so maybe she won’t ever know!!! This woman is a rockstar! She is steady and calm and Uber talented! Whitney loves her husband and children with a fierce love and keeps their best interest in the front of her mind and heart. My company is better when she is on the team! So I want to introduce you to Whitney!!

I want to say a little something about repurposing items. It can be done and this is a good example. Swipe to see how the altar pieces were repurposed to reception area. Just a few tips: repurpose items that are easily moved, used like they were built - meaning if an upright piece it remains upright- if a swag that drapes and lays then drape and lay in the new spot. Bridesmaid bouquets repurposed is most always a good idea if you build a table with other pieces and a pretty decorative vase to pop the bouquet into after the ceremony. Be sure to ask your florist and be ready to pay time and labor for the florist to remain and handle the repurposing. Your planner will be very busy with all the moving people task so don’t ask them to add this to their already full plate!

Ok I am hearing I don’t ever show my face. It’s true! I love to post my couples and flowers!!! But I hear you would like to know about me. Wow and thanks! So here are a few things about me - the owner and leader of Inspired Design. I am a gardener though at times the weeds seem to be winning. I love a beautiful celebration with a well thought out table setting and candles! I enjoy yummy good food and can be found watching Master Chef and Beat Bobby Flay! I also love trying to figure out how to make something good out of what is in my fridge and freezer- look out Chopped! I try to read a couple of books a month and have a peloton bike that needs to be ridden more than once a week and I really am getting into pilates and yoga! Laying on the floor and deep breathing is quite relaxing! I have an amazing team of people who work for me and I will work to show their faces more over the next couple of months! It really takes a group coming together to pull off a beautiful and special celebration and I am really thankful for the part I get to play!
