In today’s post . . . a little Rose Knoll history!
🏡
I became acquainted with this land as part of my first-time-homeowner house hunt back in 2017 — it was the first property I viewed, and I felt its call the moment I stepped foot upon the land!
At that time pretty dilapidated, it took — a discerning eye, let’s say — to see her potential. Somewhat ramshackle but with good bones, this circa-1925 bungalow was sturdy yet not beautiful, land underutilized, ignored, and seemingly forgotten.
And then there was the hill. ⛰️
More than half of the 1/10th-of-an-acre encompassed a perilously steep hill (like, trip and enjoy your imminent demise) out a rickety back gate — it was the type of land that had clearly warranted a defeated “ah, well” from previous occupants . . .
Who then very obviously slammed that gate closed, resigning themselves to live atop an overgrown and scraggly bird’s nest of a hilltop perch. 🚪
Yet she spoke to me from the very beginning, and for the past six years I’ve been diligently toiling — my hands in every nook and cranny of this property (and with no small amount of support — “meet the team” post coming soon!) — to uncover the masterpiece beneath the dusty facade. 🖼️
The inception of Rose Knoll as a place to honor healing and connection — whether for your elopement, micro-wedding or personal retreat — came recently, as a natural outcrop of my career as a nature-based psychotherapist and life coach, and my personal background and love for living in communion with the land. 🧘🏻♀️🌳
The 500-acre homestead upon which I was born and raised in Middle Tennessee proves a constant source of inspiration. At Rose Knoll I endeavor to bring a little of that magic to you, right here in the city! (See last photo for a tiny taste of the TN homestead.) 🚜
