Our spring semester starts today! So glad to have our students returning for another semester - the first of 2024.

Daoist Traditions College held its student orientation on Friday, but it was cut short because of the unexpected heavy snowfall. While not ideal for driving, the snowfall was beautiful and turned the landscape at Heaven's Cloud Event Center into a winter wonderland.

This time of year calls us to slow down and go inward but we need some gentle exercise to keep the Qi moving. Qi gong, tai chi, and yoga are great choices but don’t let the cold weather keep you indoors. Bundle up and get outside to breathe in some fresh air.

It’s the Yin time of year – dark, cold, and damp. Adjusting from the warm, dry indoor air to the cold, damp outdoors makes your immune system work overtime. This is the best time to keep up with your acupuncture care!

“Wind” conditions are ones that come on quickly and move around to different parts of the body, like when you catch a cold or other virus. Acupoints on the upper back and neck are doorways for wind to enter the body. Protect these areas from the wind and cold by turning up your coat collar, wearing a hood, or wrapping up your scarf.
