A hundred years ago today, a great fire decimated much of downtown Astoria. ⁣
⁣
The remarkable Astor Building, that houses the Ruins venue, was spared only because the building hadn’t been completed at the time.⁣
⁣
Originally meant to be only five stories, after the fire tested the foundation - the Astor Building was built eight stories tall. ⁣
⁣
Today the grand building still stands as one of the tallest buildings on the Oregon Coast and as a testament to this town’s ability to rise above. 🤍⁣
