was established by Drew Wolfe in 1979 to promote amateur motocross events in Southern Ohio. This idea originated after Drew, a local motocross racer, attended the Florida Winter AMA Motocross Series in 1978 as a pro rider’s mechanic and then competed and worked for the event promoter beginning in 1979. “The quality of those events greatly exceeded anything our local clubs and promoters had to offe
r. My brother Kyle and I decided to promote the best racing events for the riders here on the local level”. During the next eight years they promoted local events and gained experience in racing event operations and track building working for national motocross and supercross promoters all over the United States. They went from hay bale haulers and banner hangers to equipment operators and track builders for the AMA Supercross Series, traveling to every supercross in major stadiums across the United States. Action Sports created a variety of original events including the world’s first indoor Jet Ski race which took place in 1991in Columbus, Ohio, the Team Harescramble Championship of the World, and the only AMA Professional Motorcycle Hillclimb ever conducted at night. Action Sports also conducted the first ever FMX freestyle motorcycle jumping contest which took place during intermission at the 1987 Columbus arenacross. The first Action Sports Arenacross took place in Columbus, Ohio in 1984 and became the largest arenacross event in the country with 1200 riders and over 14,000 spectators. The next fifteen years saw the Action Sports Arenacross Series grow to fifteen rounds in Ohio, West Virginia and Kentucky. The series was very successful and was sold in 1999 to Pace Motorsports who is now Feld Motorsports. In 2004 Action Sports sold a major part of its local pro-am racing program to promote a variety of different events. After 30 successful years in business they continue to promote arenacross events in Huntington, West Virginia and will again in Columbus, Ohio beginning in 2010. They also promote Grand Prix off road events and the Team Harescramble Championship of the World. Action Sports is owned and operated by Drew Wolfe and his sons Kyle and Ryan. They participate in motocross and other forms of off road dirt bike racing, ATV trail riding, street bike riding, snow and wake boarding and other extreme sports. They are dedicated to promoting successful, enjoyable events for their riders and spectators.
