We were delighted to celebrate the holidays with the return of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chamber Chorus on December 21 along with a quartet of outstanding soloists: soprano Adelaide Boedecker, mezzo-soprano Rhianna Cockrell, tenor Thomas Cooley, and bass-baritone Lawson Anderson. The program included part one of Handel’s glorious “Messiah” and Bach’s timeless “Magnificat.” This special occasion served as the final performance of the year in our beautifully decorated concert hall. It was a magical night we won’t soon forget!

We are sorry to hear of the passing of legendary tabla player and multi Grammy winning musician Zakir Hussain. He was a national treasure in his home country of India and one of its reigning cultural ambassadors. His last performance at UGA was ten years ago, and we were very much looking forward to his return next spring. He will be greatly missed.
