Violinist Benjamin Beilman returned to Ramsey Concert Hall recently with a program of solo and collaborative music by Eugène Ysaÿe, Franz Schubert, Chris Rogerson, César Franck, and others. He was joined by pianist Gloria Chien, who has also previously appeared on our stages. They were a truly dynamic duo!

Last week, we experienced something very special when we welcomed pianist Mitsuko Uchida and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra to Hodgson Concert Hall for the first time. Uchida played and conducted the orchestra in two of Mozart's beloved concertos, 18 and 21. It was a joyful and unforgettable performance!

Virtuoso sitar player and composer Anoushka Shankar returned to Hodgson Concert Hall on March 20 for the first time in nearly 25 years. She and her band played music from her recent albums. The performance showcased a creative and unique musical language mixing traditional Indian sounds, contemporary minimalism, and jazz.

The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra returns to Athens April 13 with a performance of two of the most popular works in classical music: Tchaikovsky’s stunningly lush First Piano Concerto and Ravel’s seismic "La valse." French early music ensemble Les Arts Florissants and violinist Théotime Langlois de Swarte brought a spectacular performance to Hodgson Concert Hall last weekend on the second stop of their 21-city U.S. tour. The centerpiece of the program was the 300th anniversary celebration of Vivaldi's "The Four Seasons." The performance also featured Baroque treasures by Claudio Monteverdi, Marco Uccellini, and Francesco Geminiani.

The musicians all trained in traditional Mongolian music from a young age and are part of a revivalist movement finding inspiration in traditional music. Their haunting harmonies and vibrant strings evoke the endless beauty of the Mongolian grasslands. Combining throat singing and long song with horse head fiddles and two-stringed lutes, they bring this powerful ancient music to life as never heard before. Driven by their thirst to revitalize their traditions and culture, they have been stunning people all over the world for the past two decades.
