In my spare time, I’m most likely watching a Golden Girls marathon with my Rocky & Khaleesi (my lapdog rottweilers), trying a new restaurant with my husband, or chatting on the phone with family & friends. I have over ten years of experience in the event industry, although I can effectively plan baby showers, family reunions, galas, and proms. My true passion is wedding planning and all things wedding-related! From time to time, I still dabble in social event planning so that I don’t get rusty. Brides' Guide To: Wedding Guests' Dress Code!

How do you broach the topic of proper attire for your wedding? Your dress code should go hand in hand with your wedding day's style.

You can't assume your guests will know what attire they are expected to wear based on your wedding venue. I've been on the receiving end of an invitation without a dress code. I came in cocktail attire, and the dress code was formal... While this wasn't a huge deal, I did feel slightly out of place at the beginning of the wedding.

The best rule of thumb is if you want your guests to wear something specific, you need to let them know on the invitation. Otherwise, it's truly up to them. Some guests may ask you for recommendations on the dress code, but most will make the best choice for themselves based on your wedding location.
