“The flower that blooms in adversity is the most rare and beautiful of all.” 🌸

Our tiny flower garden gives us a deeper understanding of seasonality and what's in bloom week to week.

We get a teeny tiny taste of the trials, hard work and planning that goes into growing flowers.

The late freeze this year put our garden behind. ☃️❄️

It killed off a lot of the flowers that were looking SO promising for early Spring 2023.

The chilly weather set our dahlia tuber shipment behind, so our summer and fall flowers were all late. I'm thankful that I even got one flush of dahlia blooms this year, they're that beautiful. 💝

No camelia blooms, no hydrangea blooms, and only one flush of our encore azalea. We lost our rosemary and lots of other long-standing perennials in the garden.

All of this chaos due to one hard freeze that knocked us all back at the beginning of the year. 🤷‍♀️

Next year, I'll know all of the lessons I've learned this year. I'll come back stronger and so will all of our flowers! 🌸🌸🌸

Which is your fave 1-5?

Unpopular opinion: I think AI is cool 😎👉 🤖

It helps me to bring loose ideas into a "real" form that sparks inspiration for future work.

We don't always have the time or the budget or the client to let us explore ideas in the way we want.

Using AI is a way to explore what a $10k-$15k wedding altar might look like for us, without having to lock in the funding first.

So what do you think? Are you an AI lover? An AI hater? Scared of the robot takeover? I don't know where folks stand on this one!

This is me, designing for me. 🌸

A foam-free flower arrangement in a vintage planter, made with only flowers I grew myself.

This arrangement is a celebration of the beauty and abundance of nature, and the fruit of my labor growing my own cut flowers.

I worked so hard this year tilling, planting, weeding, momming and growing our business. I'm glad that my reward for the backbreaking work is something this pretty. 💖

I love the way the different colors and textures of each flower complement one another.

The soft purple agaretum, the bright pink zinnias, and the delicate cosmos are such a girly garden vibe.

So many people think that my career is playing with flowers. I wish it felt that way more often. It's very rare that I'm ever in full control of a design I build. Or job is to collaborate with our client and bring their dream to life through our lens.

This is what it looks like when I'm designing only for myself. No constraints, no guidelines, no time crunch, no planning. Just me on my own terms. ✨

And yes, I know it's a mess! I've never shown our "home studio" before, but this is it. My house is 750 sqft, and the living room is maybe a quarter of that space. My wife, myself, Baby IO, our two dogs, and our lizard live among all of the flower buckets and vases and hardware. During our event weeks, the house is crammed with all of us, plus Kate and her husband, plus whoever is freelancing with us. It gets HECTIC ya'll!!! 😂 We are ass to elbows in this space with all the Fauna & Fig gear, add a baby and all of her accessories to the mix, and it's a disaster zone, as you can see. This week, we're putting on two events. A mother's day class tonight and then a wedding this weekend. To say it's about to be crazy in this house is an understatement. We have some leads on studio space that we're following up on. I can't even imagine what it'll be like to come home after work and not have flower buckets all over the place.
