On Thursday evening on September 14th of this year, my family lost everything in an accidental house fire, including our two dogs, Uno (German Shepherd) and Cleo (Cane Corso).
After dinner, I left the house to run and get some dog food for Uno and Cleo, and the stove was left on as everyone in the house went to bed and caught ablaze, in my absence.
Uno, my 8 eight year old German Shepherd, got everyone out of bed and out the house before going back inside to rescue his little sister, Cleo. Driving back, I passed by fire trucks and emergency vehicles when I received a phone call from my younger brother that the house was on fire.
When I arrived on the scene, I realized the dogs weren't around outside with the family. Without second thought, I ran to the back of the house breaking out all of the windows, trying to get to them when I was pulled away by an officer. I lost consciousness momentarily, but the next thing I remember was them dragging our dogs out by the hind legs, and laying them flat on the porch.
Excluding the lives of my mother, father, brother, whatever pajamas everyone had on, and what was in my car at the time, EVERYTHING was lost in the fire.
Thankfully Cobb County Fire Department have offered to pay for the crematory expenses for both Uno, THE HERO, and Cleo. If not for Uno, I would've lost everything I loved in a matter of 14 minutes.
That being said, my family and I are going to need a lot of help getting back on our feet.
