This is an exciting initiative that is paving the way for future dialogues on how the youth can pave the way for Africa’s future

The is a once-in-a-generation platform to reinvigorate multilateral collaboration and craft strategies that reflect our current global realities. Recognizing young people's critical role in shaping our future, the United Nations General Assembly is championing their involvement in addressing the pressing challenges of our time.

In line with the call of the UN Secretary-General António Guterres in his , the UN Office of the Special Adviser on Africa is actively partnering with Member States, Pan-African institutions, civil society organizations, youth leaders and advocates, and UN system entities to amplify ’s Voices at the Summit through action-oriented initiatives accelerating progress towards the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.

On 9, 16 and 23 September as part of this initiative, we are organizing a youth-led and youth-driven knowledge production exercise pegged to the chapters of the Pact of the Future to be issued at the Summit.

This event aligns with the Summit’s focus on the Pact and aims to prioritize the aspirations of young Africans in contributing to the global dialogue. It will bring together young African academics and experts, including; Chukwuebuka Nwafor, Yolian Ogbu, Bryan Duncan and Aline Abayo, to present their research into critical issues impacting Africa's development, as the continent seeks to reclaim its rightful place at the global leadership table.
We will explore several topics, including:

🌍 The Role of Venture Capital in Technological Advancement and Economic Development
💚 Leveraging Climate Finance for Peacebuilding in Conflict-Affected States
🌱 The Race towards a Greener Economy: Examining the Contested Futures of Sustainable Development in the Congo

This is a unique opportunity to collaborate and generate impactful insights that address the challenges we face and drive innovation for change. Let’s harness the expertise and passion of our youth to continue building a sustainable future for Africa and the world.

Africa’s active participation is crucial to influencing global strategies, ensuring the continent's voices are not only heard but take centre stage in the shaping of an inclusive global governance framework that supports the realization of the 2030 Agenda and the African Union's Agenda 2063.

Join us and help spread the word across your network! 🌱🤝

🌿 The Africa Awareness Week initiative has been involved in reforestation efforts in Africa for some time. We have a passion for the environment and for addressing sustainability issues. Africa is home to many environmental treasures. Did you know that West Africa is home to one of the last remaining examples of Yoruba sacred forests? The Osun-Osogbo Sacred Grove in Nigeria is not only a UNESCO World Heritage Site, but it’s also a place of great spiritual importance to the Yoruba people. For over 400 years, this 75-hectare forest has been a center of worship for the goddess Osun, and is home to sacred sculptures, shrines, and natural springs. But that’s not all. The grove is also home to over 400 species of plants and animals, many of which are endangered. From the Mona monkey to the potto, the Osun-Osogbo Sacred Grove is a unique natural environment that must be protected. By raising awareness about the cultural and ecological significance of this sacred forest, we can help preserve it for generations to come. 🙏🏾🌍🌳
