A ribbon cutting was held last week at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre for the $50 million Akers Mill Ramp. This new Interstate 75 access point completes the I-75 Northwest Express Lanes System as the southernmost access point, offering direct access into Cumberland for over 100,000 daily commuters as well as guests of the Cobb Galleria Centre and Cobb Energy Centre. Visitors to Cobb Galleria Centre can now exit the I-75 Express Lanes at Akers Mill Road in the morning, and enter the Express Lanes there in the evening. Our own Michele Swann was honored with the Senator Johnny H. Isakson Leadership Award given by 2024 Cobb Chamber Chairman Mike Plant at the Chamber's 83rd Annual Dinner on Saturday night (held right here at the Cobb Galleria Centre). The award is presented to someone who is a visionary, a friend, a mentor, and a leader. Those words certainly describe the qualities of Michele, our longtime General Manager & CEO, who stepped back from her role at the end of 2024. Michele was cheered on by members of the Cobb-Marietta Coliseum & Exhibit Hall Authority and staff, some of whom are pictured here. Congratulations to Michele on this honor that celebrates the entirety of her 40+ year career in venue management, including her 29 years at Cobb Galleria Centre.

Please join us in congratulating Rob Turner, our longtime Director of Finance, who has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer for the Cobb-Marietta Coliseum & Exhibit Hall Authority. Turner has worked for the Cobb Galleria Centre, Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre and ArtsBridge Foundation for 20 years. Under his leadership, the Authority each year has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, a premier award for financial reporting excellence given by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the U.S. & Canada. He was a 2012 Finalist for Atlanta Business Chronicle’s CFO of the Year Awards.

Culture Collision Trade Show is coming in a few weeks! This action-packed show brings cards, comics, collectibles and sneakers to the Cobb Galleria Centre, Jan. 24-26. The event will have a DJ, food, trade nights, celebrity appearances, a half-sized basketball court, panel discussions, live breaks and giveaways. There will be over 500 tables available. Kids Under 12 are free.
