When Covid hit hard in March of 2020, I was living in a giant house in Buckhead by myself and barely any furniture. My partner at the time had moved out abruptly right when Covid hit, and taken all of the furniture with him, so I spent almost all of Covid sleeping on a couch and sewing. It sounds like I'm complaining but honestly I'm not. To this day, I am SO GRATEFUL for how I was able to spend the first 8 months of Covid: sewing, making facemasks with Hayley Paige, and actively participating in the fight against Covid. The best part was that I had SKILLED HELP. I had put out a post of Nextdoor to find anyone who could help me produce the facemasks..and God blessed me with 3 smart, capable, and skilled women who were amazing seamstresses. They who would either pick up or drop off items to the front porch daily. (even a few through-the-window pass offs that were particularly precious.) Truth fast: We couldn't make them fast enough. My days that spring and summer were BUSY. From sunrise to sunset ...I was either packing up orders, going to the post office...buying materials...doing pick ups/drop offs with the girls...or sewing. The best part? The house was clear of upsetting energy, and I was able to focus. When things started to calm down that August, a friend of mine helped me move into a drop-dead-gorgeous luxury apartment nestled in the neighborhood of Morningside, which I still look back on with awe. All I remember about March through August was making facemasks during the day, and then falling asleep exhausted, determined, and filled with purpose. A huge thank you to Hayley Paige for working on some of the masks with me. ππΌππΌππΌTogether, we were able to get masks distributed all over the country very early on in the Covid pandemic.
