Have you ever stopped to consider why some things that bring us immense joy can also be a source of profound sorrow? Case in point, I was at the store, feeling uplifted about purchasing Christmas cards, when I glanced over at the section for Mom and Dad and was suddenly overcome with emotion. And today, I was thrilled to be able to attend church for the second Sunday in a row, but during Praise and Worship, when my favorite Christmas song "O Holy Night" filled the air, I was deeply moved and struggled to compose myself until just minutes before the service ended. As Frankie Beverly so eloquently sings, joy and pain are intertwined, much like sunshine and rain. Can we truly experience one without the other? Is it possible to have joy without pain?  Chime in if you will!!
