Boxed lunches vs. Buffet ⬇
When deciding between boxed lunches and a buffet for your catered meal, there are a few things you’ll want to consider

Buffets can be a better option for larger events, as they provide a more social and interactive experience as guests mingle while making their plate. Guests can also always come up for seconds versus the set amount in boxes.

Boxed lunches are a good option if you’re wanting guests to be efficient and quickly grab and go. These are also great for accommodating specific dietary needs and preferences as they offer a certain level of customization.

If you’ve ordered from Figs and Honey recently, you probably already know and love him — introducing Rusty Newport, one of our Event Sales Account Managers! 🧡

Rusty is a seasoned event expert with over a decade of experience in the events industry, including opening and running his own events company in 2013. Having worked with restaurants, private clubs, and a number of amazing charities, such as the Make-A-Wish foundation, he’s planned a wide range of events in terms of size and theme. When it comes to his favorite thing about working in the events and catering industry, Rusty loves being a part of creating memories. “I want to be that guy that put the bride in the hot air balloon and made that last minute vendor work out,” he says.

Outside of work, Rusty enjoys gardening on his home farm. From veggies to herbs and zen gardens, he’s got it all. He also enjoys staying out in the Atlanta scene, attending events and trying new things. If he could travel anywhere, he’d love to canoe down the Yangtze River in China before retiring in Chile to watch his wine grapes grow 🍇

If tasked with creating his own custom menu, Rusty’s a big fan of organic eating and would love to have a menu that showcases all you could do with a farm-to-table menu. The food must be pleasing to the palette AND the eye, as he’s a big fan of decor and presentation.

One question we are often asked is “How many appetizers should we offer to keep guests happy until dinner?”

More is more when it comes to offering variety with your appetizers 🙌 We recommend having three different options for guests to choose from, and offering four pieces per person is the sweet spot for a time slot of around 45 min to one hour 🍽
