WEDDING TIP: CATERERS! Most reputable caterers have wonderful food; many offer very similar menus and pricing. One thing many brides don't consider is the staff associated with your caterer. Depending on the level of service that you are looking for, you might ask how many staff members they will bring to your venue, as venues rarely employ waitstaff. If they say 1 or 2, you might be getting great food, but they will not include any waitstaff duties in their services so your guests may be left to throw away their own plates, etc. If they bring 3-5+ staff members, you can ensure they plan to not only keep the buffet full and clean, but to interact with your guests and clear plates creating a full dinner experience. Both styles absolutely have a place in the industry; just consider how casual or formal of a style you're going for. You might also inquire if they include disposable plates/flatware in their bid, and request extra if you need cake or appetizer plates/forks as well. Another food item to consider is 'who will cut/plate/serve dessert?'-some venues will take care of this, some caterers, and sometimes you need to assign family for this job. Just a few things to keep in mind when interviewing catering candidates!

Casino night has limited tickets; get them this week. Gallivant starts at 8pm and is one of our favorite live acts; all 18 and over are welcome @ $20. Hoping for amazing weather so Gallivant can put on their show on the covered porch!

At Bluebird Hill on May 4th! The Atlantic Booster Club is making it so easy to want to support our schools. If you've never heard Gallivant, you're absolutely missing out. Get advance tickets for casino night early or pay at the door for the music later!

It was all finalized tonight.
Casino night will be limited to the first 150 people from 5:00 to 7:00
But for the band it is open to everyone 18+ starting at 8:00.

Let's talk about overnight accommodations in Atlantic, IA! Yes, we've got a couple of great hotels that will put rooms in a block for you to reserve (I absolutely recommend both of them!). However, we've also got some great AirBNB spaces available. If you've got a lot of family or friends coming into town multiple nights, it's a great option so they have shared spaces, full kitchens, etc...and keep in mind that they are usually less expense when considering multiple hotel rooms. On airbnb.com there is "Communion Corner" that boasts 9 beds, but the great thing about this home is that the top floor can be closed off if you've got a smaller group and want a smaller price tag! It's best to contact the owner directly (plus she'll give you a discount if you are hosting your wedding at Bluebird Hill!)--Emily 515-321-2005. On airbnb.com there's also a "Condo In Atlantic" that is a beautiful smaller option. For that space, choose to "Contact the Host"--it's run by a wonderful organization called ShiftATL and the host is a super friendly lady named Jessica that will give you a 10% discount if you are booked with Bluebird Hill as well! Private message me anytime for additional information.

I don't know what brides need to hear this, but you probably ordered too much dessert! I often send 50+ extra servings of dessert back home with families after weddings. When I did wedding cakes, I suggested ordering 1 serving for 90-95% of your RSVP guests. This is especially true if you're also serving appetizers or snacks prior to dinner. Resist the urge to pad your numbers. People don't eat as much as you think they do... same goes for popcorn quantities!
