We had a great time yesterday handling the wedding and reception for Alan and Darrell. Thank you both for the trust in me and wonderful opportunity for Southern Elegance Events, LLC to spread our creative “Peacock wings” for this stunning event!

We also worked with some great vendors: Chris & Carla’s Heavenly Ribs and Catering, Sally’s piece-a-cake, Bottles- up, Christy’s T & T Florist, Epiphany Gulf Coast DJs, photographer Sean Mullins @ Pensacola Vibes, & Ms Judy at the Mobile Carnival Museum. It was a true pleasure and we look forward to working together on future events!

To say the last couple of weeks has been busy would be an understatement. God has truly blessed my business in so many ways, I couldn’t possibly do this without Him! In the last two weeks, we have done a sizeable corporate event and Ribbon Cutting with Irby Corporation in Loxley, hosted the ECHS Class of 1958 65th Class Reunion, and provided and set up the tables, chairs, linens, and tabletop at St. Robert’s for our church celebrating the 60th Anniversary of Father Milstead’s ordination to the priesthood, and set up for a large rehearsal dinner and significantly well attended a wedding reception for John and Walton Nichols Thompson this past weekend at Encore at The Strand. This weekend, we have another wedding in Saraland for the sweetest couple at the new home of the bride’s parents.

This has been our busiest three-week period since opening in August. While we are thankful for the natural slowdown of events during the hot summer for a chance to regroup and plan, we can't help but look forward to our next event (just around the corner), and to many wonderfully exciting events already scheduled through the end of the year.

We are tired, sore, maybe a bit dazed, and profoundly grateful and humbled at the sheer magnitude of business and blessings Southern Elegance has received. In everything we do, our goal is to make all our events the most important thing we do for every client. We strive for perfection and to bring joy and happiness to those we serve.

If you have experienced a bit of Southern Elegance, we hope we have exceeded your expectations. If you haven’t seen us in action, give us a call, we would be honored to be entrusted with your events. No matter how big or small, your event will always be as important to us as it is to you!

I am sharing this from my personal page. Our oldest son was married this past weekend. Even event professionals must contend with all sorts of things at personal events, and yes, we know all about the what ifs and maybes.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6

This has always been my favorite verse. There are so many things that stood in the way of this wedding being ideal. I think its safe to say that no one dreams of a stormy and obstacle filled wedding day.

The original location had to be changed a couple of months before the wedding because of unplanned repairs which also resulted in the need for invitations to be reprinted. All week long the forecast was checked repeatedly and countless prayers were prayed for a rain free wedding day. There were countless changes to details for the weather and to ultimately prepare for an indoor event in a space that while exceedingly beautiful, was a bit small for the number of guests that were confirmed to attend.

So, we made last minute changes to how everything would be set up and do everything possible to accommodate every guest and provide a memorable wedding for Cody and Ariel.

Some of you may have heard of Southern Elegance Events, LLC, an event rental business I started back in August. My company provided every item used for the wedding. Every item you see in these photos are rentals. While I started with an enclosed trailer, I recently purchased a 16’ box truck to accommodate the inventory needed for larger events.

This was the first wedding for the box truck and on the way to the venue, the truck lost power on the interstate. I just smiled and shook my head knowing all of this was God and his perfect timing. I was not stressed, anxious, or frustrated, I was literally at peace!! Everything would be perfect because that’s God’s plan—his plan is always perfect. We finally arrive at the venue, and tried to prepare for the weather, but the storms were far more severe and intense than we could mitigate.

We fell behind schedule quickly due to the these interesting events and it was becoming clear that our challenges were only beginning. We were feverishly working to pull this event together when guests began to arrive. As they observed our efforts, every single guest began to ask what can we do to help!

As the owner of an event rental business who also does event planning and coordination, this is a nightmare scenario but one that was very real and also for my oldest son’s wedding! Let me tell you how God shows up and shows out. Everyone worked to pull everything together. Most of these people had never met one another yet they worked beside others with a common goal— the wedding must go on!!
There is absolutely no way things would have worked as well as they did without the help and love for Cody and Ariel— after all, isn’t that why we were there? With the wedding scheduled to begin at 5:30, I finally left to go home and get myself together around 5:15. Ariel and Cody would not start the wedding without me. I arrived back at the venue at 6:24 after driving home, taking a shower, and getting ready for the event.

Every delay that day led to the event being pushed back an hour later. On my way back to the venue (a 20 minure drive), the weather started to break. After I arrived, we started the wedding.
If you haven’t yet realized that God’s plan is perfect, let me tell you it most definitely is. The ceremony was wonderful, everyone was in the venue and seated not in rows of seats, but at tables and had time to talk to others. The rain stopped, the bad weather had passed, and the lighting was perfect for photographs.

God provided the most perfect day, the most perfect wedding and the most perfect opportunity to apply my favorite verse. Oh, as if you need more convincing about how God works, let me just say that the pastor, whom I had never met, opened the ceremony—
