AWC was formed in 1907 as the Atwater Women’s Improvement Club. As an early initiative led by Mrs. Christine Thompson Bloss, the women of the community helped name the streets of Atwater and planted trees in the park and throughout town. The Clubhouse was built in 1926 and is located in the heart of Atwater, on the corner of Third Street and Grove Avenue.

Maintaining the Clubhouse for community and public events is one of the primary objectives of AWC. The club takes on a variety of initiatives throughout the year, including scholarships for Atwater and Buhach graduating seniors, Toys for Tots, Kings View Work Experience Center, Rose Julia Riordan Tranquility Village and a canned food drive. We host monthly luncheon meetings from September to May
