WE ARE HIRING
Seeking a talented female (18-25 yrs preferred) with a background in acting and musical theatre who loves children and Disney!
Wonderland Celebrations is a party company dedicated to bringing joy and magic into the homes of families celebrating their child's birthday. Our team members are talented performers who portray characters with poise, grace, and professionalism. Every one of our birthday celebrations includes a skilled Character Assistant who will aid the performer in setting up and tearing down the party activities as well as snap photos of the event that will be sent to the parents post-party. We pride ourselves on the quality of our princess parties and look forward to hiring a new team member who possesses as much passion for this craft as we do!
Our new hire will be scheduled to perform as a character for some parties and work as the character's assistant for others. Both jobs are exceedingly important in the quality of our services provided and are equally important to the company.
About You:
You have a background in performing arts.
Whether it be musical theatre, improv, both, or otherwise, you have a history of acting on a stage and can bring just as much talent to a live setting.
You can sing!
Our party characters always sing at our celebration events. It is imperative that you sing skillfully and beautifully.
You love children.
Perhaps you have a background in teaching, babysitting, or nannying. Or, maybe you just love being around children! We want someone who can act accordingly to the character they are portraying as well as make every child in the room feel special and cared for. You must be able to command attention back to yourself in a distracting situation and be willing to answer off-the-cuff questions about the character you are portraying as if it were your own experience. In some cases, children will want to hug you, hold your hand, or sit on your lap. You must be willing to act accordingly around many children at once.
You are very familiar with popular Disney films.
In many cases, children will want to quiz you on your Disney knowledge. Sometimes it is to make you prove that you really are the character you are portraying. Sometimes, it is just for conversational purposes. No matter what, you must be ready to converse and answer children's questions as if you were a real princess. The magic can be quickly extinguished if you do not know the name of the handsome prince you're married to or the kingdom you live in.
You are willing to give back.
Wonderland Celebrations aims to actively give back to the community through toy and food drives, children's hospital visits, charity events, and more. We want to hire a team member who is willing to donate their time occasionally in order to make a bed-ridden child's day special, feed the homeless and hungry, or make those who are struggling smile. Being open to charitable opportunities is a quality we value very much in a potential new hire.
This gig is ideal for young adults looking to fill their weekends and earn some extra cash doing fun and meaningful work or a high school student with open weekend availability looking for a way to earn money AND community service hours!
PLEASE NOTE: We are a new and growing small business with limited opportunities at this time. YOUR WEEKEND AVAILABILITY MUST BE VERY OPEN as some parties can be scheduled as soon as 10 days in advance.
You will be asked to interview AND audition for this position. Please have a working and acting resume handy as well as a headshot.
