Two stages of entertainment, merchandise, food and community resources booths, workshops, Keiki Korner and so much more.
Most important aloha festival's were created to be cultural celebrations held annually that showcase Hawai'is diverse cultures and traditions. We hope to see you there.

Let's welcome back this hālau to SAF. Don't forget to stop by the see them perform or bring your keiki to the Keiki Korner. This is our wonderful halau that it on for all the keiki to enjoy at SAF.
September 11, 1999 in Sacramento, California. Under the direction of Kumu Hula Juni Kalāhikiola Lovel, students span in age from keiki (children) to our kūpuna (elders). The name of the women’s hālau “ Hālau Ka Waikahe Lani Mālie” translates to “the peaceful, heavenly, flowing water” while the men’s hālau translates as “the water’s reflection”. Just as water is essential to life, each student contributes to the life & legacy of the hālau.

Island Sunset Band, Sacramento, CA - Oscar Aban, Band Leader Island Sunset Band was formed in 2008 by four friends who enjoy good music, wine, good food, and good company. Did I fail to mention beer? We play traditional and contemporary Hawaiian music but we are moved by anything island-inspired. We’ve also been accused of doing R&B, rock and country.

Kumu Hula Nohea Macugay has been teaching hula since 2005. She studied hula under Kumu Hula: Buddy Koakanu Carson, Naomi Leina’ala Kalama, and Lehua Kawaikapuokalani Hewett. She ‘uniki’d (graduated) under Lehua Kawaikapu on Hawai’i Island. Her Elk Grove hālau is Kūhai Hālau O Kanoheaokalikolaua’e Pā ‘Ōlapa Kahiko. www.http://www.halauhulaonohea.com. She strives to perpetuate the culture, language, and traditions of Hawai’i through hula.

Vaipuna No Te Here is based out of Sacramento, CA, established in 2015, by Director, Stephanie Montemayor Manuel. As a group, they have competed in Ori Tahiti Solo competitions all over Northern California. The group mission is to provide their 'ohana with resources and knowledge to express themselves through music and dance. They take pride in teaching and instilling strong beliefs of love, respect, humility, and compassion in their students, which is reflected through their love of the culture

Kūhai Hālau O Kaponookalani Pā 'Ōlapa Kahiko/Ohana Dance Group is a non-profit, multigenerational hālau where students of various ages, backgrounds, and abilities are exposed to the Hawaiian Culture and music through traditional hula. We maintain a family-oriented atmosphere where students enjoy learning.

Saturday, September 14th is the Sacramento Aloha Festival at the Gold Country Fairgrounds. Come on down and enjoy mini workshops in Fofo Samoan massage presented by Karl Fonoti Pua`a Read-Cramer on the lawn near the vendors.
Karl Fonoti Pua’a Reid-Cramer is of Sāmoan and European descent a passionately shares and preserves the pasifika styles of holistic healing that has been passed down in his family for generations.

We are so happy to have Tricia Allen back with us again this year. Don't miss her Tattoo Workshop , in the Tahoe Building, 2pm
Tricia Allen has been researching the history of Polynesian tattoo since the late 1980s. She achieved a Master’s degree at the university of Hawai’i in 1992 completing her thesis on the ancient documentation of Marquesan tattoo. Her more recent work has taken her to Tahiti and the Society Islands, the Marquesas Islands, Samoa, Aotearoa (New Zealand), New Caledonia, the Cook Islands, Palau and Rapa Nui (Easter Island). Allen’s books Tattoo Traditions of Hawai’i (2005) and The Polynesian Tattoo Today (2010) have received national acclaim. Her articles and photographs have appeared in dozens of newspapers and magazines and journals and conference publications. Allen is also an accomplished tattooist having tattooed well over 8,000 individuals which gives her rare insight into the meanings and motivations behind the tattoos worn by Islanders today. She has curated exhibitions at the Honolulu Academy of Art and the National Museum of Contemporary Art in Caracas, Venezuela. Allen has lectured extensively on Polynesian tattoo at numerous institutions and is currently faculty at the University of Hawai’i, Windward Community College in Hawaiian and Pacific Island Studies. Located in the town of Newcastle, California, Hālau Hula Pono was founded in 2010 by Kumu Hula Pamahoa Akina. Our goal is to contribute to the preservation and perpetuation of Hawaiian and Tahitian arts and culture through traditional dance, and to enlighten others to the beauty of these traditions. We are ʻohana and community focused and contribute to our local and Polynesian communities through the good works and ALOHA of our hālau. We welcome new students year round.

Ka Hale Hula O Pilialohaokalani O Hilo, Grass Valley, is a traditional halau hula with roots in Hilo, Hawai’i, the birthplace of its teacher, Kumu Pilialoha Christiansen. Established in 2003, the Grass Valley halau is dedicated to studying and preserving Hawaiian culture and connecting with the community in the spirit of Aloha.

Let's meet Hālau Nā Maka ‘Ōlali
Kumu Tanisha currently dances with Kumu Patrick Makuakāne and his halau, Nā Lei Hulu I Ka Wēkiu, in San Francisco. She has been dancing with Kumu Patrick for over 30 years and with his direction and training she was able to graduate as ‘ōlapa (dancer) in her first ‘ūniki ceremony in 2006 and then graduated as ho’opa’a (chanter) and Kumu (teacher) in 2019. Kumu Tanisha’s goal is to share all she has learned over the years and to perpetuate the Polynesian culture with others.

Ho'okipa which means to entertain, have fun. Band members were raised in Hawaii and are Hawaiian love to jam Hawaiian music of old and new. Songs of traditional, contemporary, jawaiian, reggae and english from back home for us takes you on a journey to the islands. Our culture is the backbone of our group listening to Gabby, Makaha sons, Hui Ohana, Sunday Manoa and the list goes on and on. So come and check us out and reminisce of being back ho.e on the islands.
