This is copied from a response in the CONCORD FIRE DEPARTMENT post. This is the fire department I want to cover Riverdale. Spencerville can not cover the school as Concord can. Not to mention Concord is 0.3 miles away as to where Spencerville is over 2 miles away. This is not counting the distance and time it takes to get to station from home either.
Concord Fire Department has 11 EMT’s, 7 EMR’s, and 1 Paramedic all signed up to respond when the page goes out. 2 more are registered in an upcoming EMT class to be able to bring even more higher medical care to our communities.
We have 11 Firefighter 1&2, 4 1st and 2nd Class, and 5 Mandatory firefighters all signed up to respond when the page goes out.
All of our firefighters are certified in technical rescue and hazmat ops.
We have 3 members certified as Indiana State Fire Instructors.
All of this doesn’t even begin to count our numerous support members who do not participate in front line firefighting and the many, many members of the public who give us help at fund raisers, community events, and other intangible ways that we can never express our gratitude for.
These are ALL people who have volunteered to help cover and respond. You ask who would want to volunteer and be treated like this? All of these people above. Every last one of them has volunteered. And they all, every last one, was just told “no help needed.”
