Look y’all!! We won Best Venue and Best Overall Event Production at the Awards Gala this week! We’ve been nominated for a bunch of awards over the years but this is our first win. We are so proud of these last 8 years of running this beautiful venue and we look forward for many more.

Thank you to our amazing team of sales staff, bartenders, and facilities pros for making all of the magic possible, and thank you to every single couple, company and nonprofit who have hosted events here. Serving you, helping you celebrate, and providing an unforgettable space to gather has been our honor.

Meet the Beckendorfs! These two hosted a beautiful wedding at the station in early March….right when the plants wake back up and the redbuds bloom their bright pink flowers. Early spring is such a magical time in Texas and with the right weather, al fresco dining under the old awning matches the magical season perfectly. Thank you two for allowing us to host this most special day. 🪷

We love a colorful hanging installation over the sweetheart table, a killer champagne toast, and a late night food truck snack. These little details get etched in everybody’s memories and we hear a lot of “this is the best wedding I’ve ever been to” around here. 🥂❤️

In honor of pride month, we’re going tell a story that we’ve never told before about the first year of Springdale Station.

We are a true local Austin business, founded by real Austinites without outside investors. Our founder Moya McIntyre collaborated with the property owner to launch the station. Homegrown…from scratch.

Without any operating capital in the first year, cash flow was tight. One of our first clients was a church from Round Rock that was expanding into Austin. They signed a contract for all Sundays for several months, which amounted to $50k. We were so excited and hatching plans to finish the landscaping and buy the furniture we desperately needed. A few weeks into the contract we realized that the church was not only against gay marriage, they did not even allow gay members. Once we learned this, we canceled their contract. It was the first and only time that we’ve ever canceled a contract in 8 years of business.

We were torn about it to be totally honest. The business needed the cash, and we thought to ourselves…”is it any of our business what these people do or don’t believe? We are just the venue.”

We decided that it was our business because we set out to be an inclusive venue for everybody. We decided to stick with our values and communicate to anybody who would listen that we believe in marriage for all.

The good news is is that the business took off and didn’t miss a beat. We survived the lean startup years and we ended up thriving. We are told that we are known as one of the most inclusive venues in Austin, and we are super proud of that.

Big news - the torch was passed and now it’s being passed back.

Our beloved Events Director, Kayla Brown, is making a career shift back into the nonprofit world and one of our favorite ever (of all time) event mavens Hannah Christie is coming back to the SS team!

Hannah worked at the station for three years managing sales, managing the venue, and being a key leader on the business resuscitation team during and after the pandemic. She very much helped the station become the success it is today, and we can’t wait to welcome her back full time staring in early June.

We are super sad to bid farewell to Kayla. She has been a rock solid grounding force on our team, and she’s leaving the business in 100 times better shape than she found it. Wishing her all of the best on the next chapter her professional journey.

Fun fact: both of these ladies tied the knot here so they both believe in this place and hold it dear in their hearts. We are so lucky to have both of them as brides and team members.

We loved watching the kids throw down at this recent B’nei Mitzvah
