‘It is a Beauteous Evening, Calm and Free’ by William Wordsworth
It is a beauteous evening, calm and free,
The holy time is quiet as a Nun
Breathless with adoration; the broad sun
Is sinking down in its tranquility.

All humans are born funny and have their own specific kind of humor that is their signature. It develops over the lifespan and sometimes it’s just a matter of finding a compatible audience… don’t ever give up. Humor is one of life’s most precious gifts and a great balm for the soul during hard times. #Humor #SenseOfHumor #ComedyIsFun #ComedyLife #MySenseOfHumor #Chickens #ChickensAreFunny #LifePhilosophy #InspirationalMoments #House-SittingLife
Composed this using Spitfire Audio sounds. Can you guess which composer and piece of music influenced me the most in writing this short clip?
On the roof top with Leeann Atherton
I’ve been making music and friendship with Leeann Atherton for just over a decade now. Yesterday it was so fun to be at the first day of her new stage and celebrate with all of her wonderful volunteers. On this day laying on her kitchen table was a book entitled ” no one succeeds alone”
There’s a poem by Maya Angelo that I love that also expands on this idea!
Alone
Lying, thinking
Last night
How to find my soul a home
Where water is not thirsty
And bread loaf is not stone
I came up with one thing
And I don’t believe I’m wrong
That nobody,
But nobody
Can make it out here alone.
Alone, all alone
Nobody, but nobody
Can make it out here alone.
There are some millionaires
With money they can’t use
Their wives run round like banshees
Their children sing the blues
They’ve got expensive doctors
To cure their hearts of stone.
But nobody
No, nobody
Can make it out here alone.
Alone, all alone
Nobody, but nobody
Can make it out here alone.
Now if you listen closely
I’ll tell you what I know
Storm clouds are gathering
The wind is gonna blow
The race of man is suffering
And I can hear the moan,
‘Cause nobody,
But nobody
Can make it out here alone.
Alone, all alone
Nobody, but nobody
Can make it out here alone.
In the company of elders,
There is wisdom to be found,
Their stories and their memories,
Are like treasures to be unbound.
They speak of times long past,
Of battles fought and won,
Of love that lasted lifetimes,
And of work that must be done.
They’ve seen the world evolve,
Through decades and through years,
And their knowledge and experience,
Is a source of strength and cheers.
Their eyes have seen much beauty,
And much pain they have withstood,
But through it all they’ve carried on,
And have made our world more good.
So if you’re with an elder,
Listen to what they say,
For their words can be like diamonds,
That can light your darkest day.
And in their company you’ll find,
A peace that’s hard to match,
For with elders by your side,
There’s no challenge you can’t catch.
Note: I told AI to write a poem about being in the company of elders 👀
Guessing Game:
As one ages, hair loss becomes an inevitable reality, and time marches on relentlessly. Yet, amidst these changes, one wonders if certain constants remain, such as the affectionate gestures of sending a Valentine's card and a bottle of wine on birthdays. Even if I were to return home late at night, would you still keep the door unlocked for me? Will you still value and care for me when I reach the age of sixty-four?
As the years pass, both of us will grow old together, and in such a scenario, would you allow me to be of assistance to you? For instance, I could repair a blown fuse, or we could spend our Sunday mornings knitting and gardening. What more could one ask for? The question lingers: will you still have the same need for my presence and sustenance when I am sixty-four years old?
We could plan our future together, looking forward to spending summers in a rented cottage on the Isle of Wight, even if it involves some budgeting and thriftiness. Eventually, we might welcome grandchildren, such as Vera, Chuck, and Dave, who would enjoy sitting on your lap.
In the end, I request that you write to me, stating your views and feelings, with precision and clarity, as I slowly waste away. Fill out a form to give me your final answer, and may we be together forevermore. Will you still need me, will you still feed me, when I'm sixty-four?
