Hello Facebook friends!
It’s been a while since I’ve updated you all on my cancer battle so I thought I’d bring everyone up to speed. It all started with Leiomyoscarcoma of the uterine wall back in April that metastasized to my lungs.
About a month and a half ago or so I had a visit to see my sarcoma specialist at MD Anderson. They did a CT scan and found that my current chemo treatment was not longer working to shrink down the lung mets. So my MD Anderson sarcoma specialist and my local sarcoma specialist decided to try a new chemo combination which is a little more aggressive than the last. Unfortunately one of the chemo drugs is not available in Austin so I go down to MD Anderson for the treatments until the supply is available locally. Thankfully my dear friend Fisher has been ready and more than willing to get me down to my appointments! Friends like this are to be cherished forever.
Around this same time I noticed a small painful lump developing on the back upper left on my skull. I had bumped my head and dismissed it as nothing. About 8 days after my new chemo treatment I spiked a fever of 103.7 and was lethargic. My husband took me to the hospital where I stayed for the next 5 days. That was November 10th-15th. Round the clock IV antibiotics to treat what ever the infection might have been that my body was trying to fight. The actual diagnosis was fever and neutropenia and severe sepsis.
I mentioned the lump on my head to my doctor here in Austin. He seemed concerned it could be a a tumor and ordered an MRI. Julie and I did the drive back down to Houston where I met with my sarcoma specialist on Monday. I was suppose to have another dose of my chemo on Tuesday the 23rd. We decided I was still recovering from the hospital stay and it was best to wait a week. I had the doctor check out my weird head lump. He had read the results of the MRI done in Austin and agreed it was probably a metastasized tumor. It sits outside the brain and spans the inner and outer tables with both extracranial and epidural components. SO GOOD NEWS. It is NOT affecting my brain as of now. Today I had mapping for radiation on ALREADY DEAD FRED (that’s what I named it) I will have radiation on the 13th of December after my body recovers from the chemo treatment I will be having on November 29th.
I will not be taking clients for the rest of November and December. Any current clients on the books Kristen will be reaching out to. We do have alternatives for getting your shoot done! We will see about January. As much as I love my photography and my clients, I would be doing my clients a disservice as I am going through these aggressive treatments. I am weak and unsteady and have some major “Chemo Brain” when I can’t remember what I was doing 2 minutes ago.
Keep those prayers coming because I plan on fighting this evil monster and WINNING. Thank you to all who have sent cards and thoughtful gifts and who’ve reached out via text, email and messenger to check on me. You HAVE NO IDEA what an impact that makes on my day and lifts my spirits! 💕💕💕 One bit of advice I will share with you all. When you have a friend who is either physically ill or mentally not well, when you think to yourself, “Oh I shouldn’t bother her/him right now he’s/she’s going though a bad time” THAT IS THE TIME THEY NEED YOU THE MOST. CALL THEM, TEXT THEM REACH OUT. I promise you. Sickness whether it’s mental or physical, is very isolating. LOVE YOU ALL!❤️❤️❤️
