Leading up to Emily’s wedding, I bugged Grassdale Farms DAILY to see if the poppies were still blooming in the fields. 🤣 The wedding was the first weekend in April, so it was at the tail end of prime poppy season. We knew how important this flower was for this client’s wedding and we were lucky to get the last bunches off the season. Shoutout to Gretchen from for coming in clutch for this event (and also not blocking my phone number haha!)

HAPPY NEW YEAR! 🎊!!! We’ve been a bit quiet around here, resting, hibernating, and reflecting on the previous year and looking forward to the next. The art of doing nothing has been something I’ve long struggled with. As floral designers & entrepreneurs , we’re always on our toes, planning, forecasting and the temptation to live in the future is always a possibility. I suppose you could say that about any job, but events in particular are always imagined and created months beforehand according to which flowers are in season. Over the years I’ve learned to (and am still striving for) the intentional pursuit of white space, a time to reflect, and frankly do nothing, as that’s when our creative cups are refilled and intentions reset. Plants go dormant and animals hibernate, so I think it’s important to give ourselves permission to just chill. Getting bored, even restless is the goal and when I hit my limit, I come out on the other side absolutely on 🔥. There’s a science behind this - i’d recommend reading “Do Nothing” by Celeste Headlee, if you really need an academic / research-based book to justify your chill. Hope everyone is able to soak up some open headspace, reset and go into this year guilt free for however many hours you’ve spent on the couch 🥰

We love a good all- out design for a rehearsal dinner celebration. It’s the first welcome your guests get to experience so why not show off your style, and create unique moments at every turn of the weekend? Here we are in Hana, Hawaii with Erika + Kamalu (who just welcomed a baby boy!). We foraged 1/2 of the floral and dried palms from a neighboring farm, packed all the vases and candles in our suitcases, and were set up in the old Hana bank as a make shift design studio. It was perfect! The last photo of lei making ingredients especially makes my heart sing.

We've been a teensy bit quiet around here. Our crew has been dedicating our summer to a bit more self care, dips in Barton Springs, vacations in Asheville & Colorado, not rushing TF around while doing our makeup in the car. Enjoying designing in the studio. Having spontaneous photoshoots with friends (thank you !). The slow down has brought so much clarity on what we're trying to create in Austin. The experience we want our clients to have. The event partners we want to create for, and exploring how we can improve our systems to bring more joy to everyone in our company and for our clients. It's been rejuvenating and we're so excited to share more details about new offerings at Gypsy Floral....and a new iteration of our brand. Stay tuned for some exciting updates! I feel like these spring ranunculus and sweet peas in an ikebana style deserve a good close up!

One of the most incredible things I've ever seen - the flower market in Holland! Definitely worth waking up for...and to think that so many of our flowers have passed through theses doors to end up in a vase or bouquet.
