MWFA Rules 2025

1. Any 1980 and newer 2 wheel drive passenger car/ mini-van/mini-truck/mid-size suv
2. All vehicles must be stripped of all plastic, glass, headlights, taillights, and anything else that could fall off onto the track during the show.
3. All vehicles must remain stock. ABSOULTY NO WELDING ANYWHERE.
4. Bumpers must remain stock, do not alter bumper in any way. Factory bumper shocks must remain in the factory location. You may remove rear bumpers and shocks. You may weld one single pass on bumper and shock.
5. Batteries may be left in stock location and spray foam may be added around battery. You may also move the battery to passenger floor or seat. Please make sure the battery is not moving.
6. If the factory gas tank is in front of axle you may leave it there. If it's behind the axle, you must move it to the rear seat area. Factory tanks may be moved inside but completely secured. After market tanks may be used.
All doors may be wired or chained in 6 places max per seam.
7. Trunks, hoods, tailgates, all may be wired or chained in 6 places total. Sheet metal to sheet metal only. Nothing to frame. Bumpers should have #9 wire 2 strands max holding the Bumper from falling off. If you remove trunk< or tailgate or you lose the trunk or tailgate wire or chain.
8. Rear seat bar may be added. It may be welded to post If you have to add something to get it away from seat please call. This is only to stop sides from coming in, not to help any other part of the vehicle.
9. Drivers’ doors must have a door bar as well as a bar behind the drivers seat. This is for driver safety.
10. DOT tires only. Stock wheels only, All wheel weights must be removed. Only tubes and air are permitted inside of tires.

These rules are cut and dry, you should not have to call to ask many questions on this class. If it does not say you can do it, then that means YOU CANNOT do it.

Bone-Stock Rules 2025

● ALL DRIVERS!!! IF YOU EXIT YOUR CAR ON A RED FLAG, YOUR STICK WILL BE BROKEN STAY IN YOUR CAR UNLESS YOUR STICK IS BROKE OR ITS AN EMERGENCY!
CAR PREP
● IF IT DOESNT SAY YOU CAN SPECIFICALLY DO SOMETHING THEN YOU CAN'T!
Any American made car can run with the following exceptions. Full size cars with the wheelbase of at least 113 in or more. No 4x4s, Imperials, el caminos, ambulances, hearses, trucks, limousines, or su***de Lincoln, no 03's and up.
1 No fresh paint or undercoating on the frame at all. No buffing or grinding frames or bodies except where welded is specifically allowed in the rules.
2 All cars must be stock, unless modification is stated in the rules.
3 All glass, plastic, chrome, and interior must be removed from the car before arriving to the derby.
4 All trailer hitches and braces must be removed.
5. You MUST have a number in bright colors on each front door and may have a sign on the roof of your car with your number on it for recognition of car.
6 Batteries must be moved to the passenger front floorboard. They must be properly secured and covered.
7 All cars must have working brakes. If the car is not able to exhibit the ability to stop, it will not be inspected. You are allowed a pinion brake, must be bolted on style only. NO WELDING what so ever off of pinion brakes to rearend. No bracing.
8 NO welding other than what is mentioned in this set of rules. If your car is found with any weld other than what is allowed and you refuse to fix it to the inspector's satisfaction, you and your car will not run.

BODY
1 Remove all glass, mirrors, and plastic. Remove all decking in wagons. Cars must be swept clean of all debris before you get to the derby.
2 No sedagons fresh or pre-ran, zero crease enhancement, zero sheet metal or frame shaping forming or folding.
3 Deck Lids must be in stock location. You may tuck trunk with a single 90° Bend fast and trunk or tailgate. You may use 2 pieces of 5/8 althread, you are allowed 3 nuts & 3 washers per piece. Washers no bigger than 4in on top of trunk lids, 2 in else where, or 4 3/8 in bolts in drip edge or 4 piece of single steand 9 wire.
4 Anything can be removed; nothing can be added.
5 Hoods get one Hood clip 3 in Long 2x2x3/16 with 1/2 in bolt and nut per side.(2) 5/8" bolts total thru hood in firewall area only and 2 core support bolts thru the hood to top of frame only with 4" washers. 3/8 max 3" space for core support. There is no welding of spacers 5 nuts max for all thread.
6 You may weld all other doors 5 on 5 off x 2 in x 1/8 in thick flat.Driver's door may be welded solid.
7 Body mounts and spacers to remain stock and in place. IF THEY ARE BROKEN OR RUSTED OUT, A SINGLE PIECE 9 WIRE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED. NO BODY BOLT CHANGING ALLOWED. This excludes 2 core support bolts for althread.
8 # 9 WIRE, CHAIN, OR BAR REQUIRED IN FRONT WINDSHIELD.
9 No 9 wire except where mentioned.

FRAMES
1 No welding on frames allowed, no pre bending on Fresh cars, you are allowed to strap your upper control arms with 1 2x2x1/4 in. Top control arms only. You are allowed lower cradle with front plate with Stock OEM motor mounts only.
2. You may use 2 twists in Spring spacers per side (store-bought no homemade).
3 You may use a single strand 9 wire to hold coil spring to rear end and leaf sprung cars may use 4 single strands of 9 wire as leaf clamps.
4 A-arm maybe swapped with no modifications. Must be direct bolt in.

TIRES/WHEELS
1 Tires no bigger than 16 in, no split rims, no studded tires, double tires are okay no foam filled.
2 Small wheel center only 3/8 max, no beadlocks, no full wheel centers.

DRIVETRAIN
1 You may use 1/2 in thick lower cradle with front pulley and pulley protect or allowed. No bracing off of front plate anywhere. Must run stock motor mounts only. Only the lower engine mounts may be welded to the crossmember. You may use 2 1/2 in thick spacers to raise engine to clear steering components, may not exceed rubber mount area. You may extend off back of crossmember but nothing excessive half inch flat plate only. (Ex SBC in caddy, mopar, Ford).
2 No tr**ny protectors, no Ultra Bell stock mounts only, stock cross members passenger car OEM only. Maybe mounted with 1 piece of 2X X2 X3 angle iron welded to frame and bolted with 2 3/8 bolt per side.
3 Rearend swaps allowed: no bracing, no welding, no reinforcement. Max axle size 31 spline. Subject to be pulled. Must be a direct bolt in gears may be welded. You are allowed to run Ford 9 inch rearend, but you must have stock lower brackets off of 8.8 readend. Upper you may run 1 inch ear no gussets what so ever.
4 You may run 2 strands of 9 wire from rearend to frame, nothing through the body, nothing through theframe.( 9 wire 2 loops, 4 strands together). Must be vertical around frame only.
5 Floor shifters allowed, gas/brake pedals allowed, headers allowed. (none may strengthen the car).
6 No fuel cradles, protectors, skid plate, and no aftermarket parts of this nature at all.
7 You May swap engine (ex Chevy in a Ford)
8 Slider driveshafts are allowed.
9 Aftermarket steering column okay, no hydro steering, aftermarket pedal and shifter okay.
10 Rear control arms must be stock to the car you are running.

DRIVERS COMPARTMENT
1 4 point Square cage 6-in Max material. 6 in away from firewall inside of car not inside of door skins. Side bars not to exceed 62 in total length, with 1 2X3 down tube to sheet metal only per side, down tube must be located in center of the front door. Halo Bar allowed to backseat bar or floor sheet metal. Nothing from Halo to tank protector.
2 Gas tank protector is allowed no wider than 24 in. Must be at least 4in away from the rear package tray. Must run straight back from the center of the cage and must be a minimum of 4 in off the trans tunnel.
3 driver's door must be padded.
4 Gas tank must be removed cannot us the factory tank. Battery must be moved and secured to passenger side floorboard.
5 Trans coolers allowed, must be mounted inside of cage area.

BUMPERS
1 You May weld on any OEM stock car bumper, you can stuff OEM stock car bumper, must have factory skin. You may weld stock car bumper brackets for the make and model that you are running or hard-nosed bumper single pass only.
2 Shocks can be collapsed and welded, all shocks and brackets in stock location and extended 1 in in front of frame.
3 All bumper brackets and shocks must be in stock location or you may shorten to 1in in front of the core support space and hard nose with no shocks or brackets on car or you may chain 1 piece of chain per side bolted from the mount to mount to hold on the bumper.

PRE-RANS
1 You may have 2 4X4x1/4 in plates per side where visibly bent- if it's determined that's its not bent you will cut entire plate off.
2 Plates must have a 1 in hole in center for inspection purposes.
3 Plates are to be welded around single 1/2 inch pass only no plug welding in the center area.
4 cutting & tilting of a z box car and putting a plate over is prohibited.
5 if a tab on a z box car is tampered with and not in factory location you will be loaded.

Semi-Stock/Limited Weld 2025

GENERAL RULES
1. ALL DRIVERS!!!!! IF YOU EXIT YOUR CAR ON A RED FLAG YOUR STICK WILL BE BROKE. STAY IN YOUR CAR UNLESS YOUR ALREADY BROKE OFF OR IF ITS AN EMERGENCY!
2. Any year of passenger car (no Imperials, Imperial sub frame swaps, hearses, ambulances, trucks,vans, or sedagon wagons fresh or pre-ran, no ranchero's or el caminos
3. NO hitting drivers door or passenger door if there is a rider
4. Must make an aggressive hits- You will be warned then put on the clock after that.
5. Clock time will be 1 minute to get refired and make a hit.
6. Cars must be fully stripped and cleaned out- No debris in drivers compartment or trunks (These are not trash trucks)
7 Everything must remain stock unless otherwise stated it can be changed or modified!
8. No painting of frames or undercoating- Push this and you may be automatically loaded!
9. All trailer hitches and braces must be removed.
10. All vehicles must show capability to stop with working brakes at inspection.

THE BUILD
- DON'T READ AROUND RULES!!! THESE ARE GUIDELINES ON HOW TO BUILD IF IT DOESN'T SAY YOU CAN THEN YOU CAN'T!

BODY and DRIVERS COMPARTMENT
1. You are allowed a 4 point cage- 6 inch material max- Door bars 62 inches max- must be horizontally mounted and 6 inches off the floor at the lowest point- you may add gussets on the inside of the 4 point area
2. You may have a roll loop 6 inch material 10 inches behind the back of seat- it may run down and welded to top side of frame only. Where it runs across the roof you may have 2- 1/2 inch bolts to attach it. Washers no bigger than 3 inch.
3. Gas tank protector 24 inch wide max- must be 2 inches from rear sheet metal or speaker deck- sheet metal is not to be beaten back! This must be 6 inches from floor sheet metal.
4. Down tubes- 1 per side no farther forward than inner front door seam. Welded to top side of frame only.
5. Body creasing is ok-
6. 10 3/8 inch bolts per wheel well opening- 1 1/2 inch washers max
7. Hoods may be secured in 8 spots 6 spots with 1/2 inch bolts- 2 spots with 1 inch all thread in the core support- core support spacers may be 2 inch tube or pipe 6 inch tall max- you may weld spacer to frame or to core support not both. Hood clips may be used in your 6 locations- 1- 1/2 x 1/4 angle iron 3 inches long with one 1/2 inch bolt per clip
8. Trunks may have single tuck in location of your choice- your allowed 2 sticks of 1 inch all thread ran through body mount, the bottom must be up inside frame, 3 nuts total washers may be no bigger than 5 inch circles of square plates- you may weld you trunk 5 inches on 5 inches off using 3 inch wide by 1/8 inch thick flat strap
9. Doors may be welded 5 inches on 5 inches off using 3 inch wide by 1/8 thick flat strap.
10. Body bolts may be changed with 5/8 inch bolts- must have atleast 1 inch tall solid spacers in place of the body pucks- do not weld pucks in place on frame- bolts may only pass through the top side of frame only- washers for these are 4 inch max- body bolts are not to extend to or attach to any part of cage what so ever. No adding extra body bolts anywhere else on car period.
11. Front windsheild must a window bars- 2 spots of nine wire or 2- 3 inch wide by 1/4 inch flat straps with 1/2 inch bolts to attach to the body- window bars are not to be tied back to halo, header braces etc.
12. Door windows- your allowed 1 spot of nine wire max 3 strands braided in each window

BUMPER and FRAME
1.Bumper OEM or after market ok- must be no wider than 7 inches max- the point no more than 14 inches measured from back side of bumper and on the front the base of the point 32 inches wide at the minimum. Replica pointys need to be very close to a Chrysler pointy
2. Front bumper brackets may be welded in factory location if you are using a factory bracket from that make and model of car- You cannot take a 14 inch factory bracket and put it on a different make or model. If you're not using a factory bumper bracket you may weld a 4 inch wide 10 inch long by 1/4 inch thick plate as a bumper bracket. The plate style bumper bracket may be flat or have a teepee, welded to one side of the frame only. If you run an old iron car that did not come with shocks example 71 impala, you may use a 74-76 BOP bracket mounted in stock location with stock bolts
3. When hard nosing a car frame cannot be cut off any shorter than 1 inch in front of the core support while it is in factory location. Front bumper height will be measured and must be 22 inches from the bottom of the frame to the ground or lower.
4. Rear bumper may be welded direct to end of the frame. If running shocks example (crown Vic ) you may weld a 4 inch wide by 1/4 inch thick flat strap and run it on to the frame 10 inches,1 strap per frame rail. Rear bumper height will be measure and must be a minimum of 16 inches from the bottom of rear body bolt to the ground or higher.
5. Plates- you are allowed 4 inch by 6 inch by 1/4 inch thick plates- 3 spots per side fresh or pre-ran- use wisely you get no more after that period. Plates may be shaped around frame and may have teepees or formed into tacos- plates must have a 1 inch gap between welds- if repairing rust this counts to this rule- plates must have 1 inch gap between bumper bracket- If using plates on an 03 up they must be 1 inch away from the cradle.
6. No frame shaping allowed- rear humps only from center line of hump 6 inches each way you may dimple in arches- do not beat in sharp edges
7. On rear frame rails you may blow a notch or dimple down top of frame in location of your choice to allow the trunk to roll up.
8. Seam welding- You may have 12 inches of weld per side from fire wall forward in location of your choice- if you use this to tilt a ford you may have no other seams welded period
9. NO other welding on frames unless stated
SUSPENSION AND STEERING
10. Spindles- no aftermarket spindles allowed- you may switch spindles around but must be direct bolt in
11.Ball joints- No aftermarket ball joints allowed- you may change out with new such as a moog replacement
12. A-arms may be welded down using 2inch by 4 inch by1/4 inch plates 2 per side- these straps must be vertical and cannot be outside the width of a-arm brackets. Upper a-arms only.
13. Leaf spring cars may have 2 clamps per side
14. If spring spacers are needed you may used store bought twists in- no homade spacers
15. Rear springs- you may use 1 pc 3/8 inch chain per side, 1- 1/2 inch bolt with washers one wrap around frame and rearend per side to hold springs in.
16. Rear coil springs may be doubled- rear springs may also be changed to any OEM style spring- fronts in front rears in rear no swapping
17. Watts cars may run a watts conversion kit- lower brackets may be welded to frame single pass around only no added metal- control arm bolt may go through one side of frame only- You CANNOT use this to pin the frame- Uppers must be bolted in only no welding to package tray- If you watts convert- you must cut all other brackets not being used off the frame.
18. Rear Control arms may be loaded- Aftermarket controls allowed. You can run watts link style loaded or regular four link loaded but not both.
19. You may run after market tie rod ends ( pin style only ) no heim style joints allowed.
20. Aftermarket steering is allowed hydro setups- sky high etc are fine.

DRIVE LINE
1 Engines- swaps are allowed
2. NO full cradles, DP's or mid plates allowed period.
3. A lower engine cradle with front plate and pulley protector 1/2 inch thick max are allowed. If running a pulley protector your sway bar must be cut out. If you want to keep your sway take the protector off. Your choice.
4. No skid plates of any kind allowed.
5. Stock or after market motor mounts allowed. Welding must stay with in a 6 inch by 6 inch area per side of the K-memeber you may use 2-1/2 inch thick 6 inch by 6 inch plates to raise your engine or slide it back to clearnce steering such as sbc in a caddy or mopar
6. If you run an LS engine you may use conversion brackets 3/16 inch thickness no gusset 3 plate design 4- point square cage only-
7. You may use 2 chains or 2- 4x4x1/4 inch plates to keep your motor from flopping around- plates may only weld to factory clam shells and frame.
8. Transmission may have aftermarket bell either a ultra bell or steel.
9. Transmission may not be braced in any way. No tr**ny protectors.
10. Any OEM transmission cross memeber maybe used- must be bolted in no welds. To re position the cross member you are allowed a 2x2x1/4 inch piece of angle iron 6 inches long welded to inside of frame rail. 1 spot per side to bolt cross member to.
11. Any OEM rearend 8 bolt lug rear end allowed- may be braced- may have aftermarket axles and axles savers- pinion brakes are ok
12. Slider drive shafts are ok
03 UP CARS
13. Factory suspension must be used. Struts aluminum cradle rack and pinion etc. Unless stated below. You are allowed strut spacers (Remember you must make correct height)
14. No removing of rack and pinion and swapping over to a gear box and drag link.
15. A arms may be swithed from aluminum with stamped steel.
16.The bolt in metal cradles that are used for the engine may only be attached to the factory engine mounting points and the 2 bolts the racked is mounted on. These cradles must remain a 1/2 inch away from the frame. They are not allowed to wrap up and over and tie in under the arms.
17. Repair plates must remain atleast 1 inch away from cradle on these cars.
MISC
18. You are allowed to run 2 batterys
19. You may have a Trans Cooler
20. Factory gas tanks are not allowed you must run a boat tank covered and well secured or a well made fuel cell
21. You may have aftermarket gas/ brake pedals and cable shifters
22. Any tire and wheel combo, small center, full centers and bead locks ok- If running beadlocks they may be on inside or outside of the wheel no larger than 2 inch
23. Radiator guards are ok 1/8 inch thick no wider than opening between front rails
24. Radiators may be mounted with 2 ratchet straps 2 3/8inch allthread with 2 inch flat strap bolt to core support
25. You are allowed on chain 3/8 inch or a spot of nine wire across frame rail to frame in trunk area. If you use bolts with a chain the bolts may not be pinning the frame. 1/2 inch bolts with 2 inch washers max

THESE RULES WILL BE ENFORCED- INSPECTORS DECISION'S ARE FINAL- IF YOUR ASKED TO CUT SAID ITEMS MUST BE CUT CORRECTLY- WE WILL NOT BE GIVING YOU UNLIMITED TIMES THROUGH TECH AREA!!!!

Rules for Youth Compact 2025

ALL DRIVERS!!! IF YOU EXIT YOUR CAR ON A RED FLAG YOUR STICK WILL BE BROKEN STAY IN YOUR CAR UNLESS YOUR STICK IS BROKE OR ITS AN EMERGENCY!

Age 9-14

1 All kids must have a Parent/ Guardian sign the waiver and must have a Parent/ Guardian riding shotgun!
2 Driver MUST HAVE A FIRE SUIT & HELMET NO EXCEPTIONS!!! Rider must wear a helmet, jeans, longsleeve shirt & sturdy shoes. NO EXCEPTIONS!
3 Must be 4 or 6 cylinder front wheel drive car. No mini vans.
4 Cars must be stripped of all interior and glass. (the dash may stay).
5 Plastic bumper must be removed, all air bags must be removed, not just unhooked.
6 Must have working seat belts, if a booster seat is used it must be secured to the seat itself by using a ratchet strap.
7 You can extend the pedals for easier reach if the kid needs help reaching them.
8 Tires must be DOT approved, no skids or forklift tires.
9 Wheels must be stock, no built wheels.
10 Battery must be inside the cab and properly secured.
11 Exhaust must be under the car and must be no further back than the front seats.
12 Fuel tank must stay in factory location if it's in front of the rear axle, if it's behind the axle must be moved inside the car.
13 A fuel cell can be used must be properly mounted and secured all fuel lines must remain under the car no exceptions.
14 Fuel line leaves the tank and go straight down and under the car. Must use proper fuel line and it must be high pressure fuel line.
15 Bumpers you may run any stock OEM car bumper, no pointys, no square tubing bumpers allowed any longer.
16 Cage must have at least a four-point cage and must be at least 2 in in diameter but not to exceed 6-in in diameter no down tubes are to be attached to the floor it can have a Halo that attaches to the sidebars only.
17 Hood must remain on the hinges and can be secured in two places using 9 wire or 3/8 chain, must have two windshield bars and must have at least an 8 in hole for fire extinguishing.
18 Doors driver's door can be welded 5-in on 5-in off. All other doors can be welded 8 in total or 6 places of nine wire or 3/8 chain.
19 Trunk can tuck 50% of the lid and or fasten in 4 places with 9 wire or 3/8 chain.
20 This is basically a gut and go build with the exceptions of the rules above. No bolts ends no headers or aftermarket shifters no aftermarket pedals and no aftermarket steering.

Just a few more days till the last derby of 2024!! Looks like it's supposed to be in the 50's for Saturday with 🌞 Sunshine!! Come on out to the Douglas County Fairgrounds for some Derby Action!! Concessions will be Open with Burgers, Hotdogs, Chilli and Nachos and more plus Alpine Shave Ice and MK’s Coffee Company will be there serving up some amazing drinks!!
