We have a busy week moving forward!!! Mardi Gras is this weekend (Feb 9-11). On February 9th at 1:00pm myself, Linc and Emily will be going live on here and then again on the 10th we'll be going live at noon (before the parade). So be sure to make the trip to Jefferson,Tx this weekend and enjoy the festivities but most importantly.... To all our friends and clients we will be shutting down our shop for a few days, Aaron is not well and we would appreciate any and all prayers. I’ll keep you updated as we find out what they are going to do.

This is so said to hear, we loved your store.

This definitely isn't a post I would've ever thought we would have to make when we moved into this location 4 years ago. Especially considering that the landlord we had at the time outfitted and set this building up for us. Unfortunately though, that landlord has passed and our current landlord has decided to increase our monthly rent an extra $1,000 a month and those of you who have followed our journey know that as recently as a week ago we had a small "lake" in the store due to the continuous leaking roof, I personally have been shocked by an electrical outlet as well as our daughter Kendall has been shocked by an outlet (amongst other issues we've had). So quite honestly we can't pay $3,000 a month for a building that has had and continues to have major issues.
Please keep in mind that the $3,000 a month rent does not include utilities, insurance etc.. which essentially puts you close to $4000 a month just with that (our insurance increased because of 2 claims due to roof leaks). This isn't the first rent increase for us, we had a $500 increase in 2020... What happened in 2020?? The world shut down due to covid and our rent went up (which we continued to pay). Before covid this location could've been considered a "prime location" but after covid it's no different than any other location.
For those of you thinking about leasing a brick and mortar location we have learned a few things over the years as tenants and I'd like to share a few suggestions.

1) Ask around town about how business is (some like myself will be brutally honest and others will sugar coat it).

2) Ask about your potential landlord (In small towns word travels fast so hopefully you'll get an honest answer).

3) See if your potential landlord has references (If you can find out as much about them as possible then do so)

4) Don't go to a town on an event weekend and expect everyday to be like that.

I'm also going to go ahead and try to answer a few questions that some of you may comment about.

1) Have you tried to buy the building? Yes, it didn't work out.

2) What will yall do? Until we decide ultimately where we will want to be we will have a small area in Port Jefferson Outpost where Emily will continue to do her permanent jewelry and do shirt orders etc on select days (Thank you so much Sharon Goolsby "mom" for allowing us to set up in there).

4) Will y'all be selling any of your decor? No, we don't have to get rid of it and won't be getting rid of it.

5) Will y'all ever be in Jefferson full time again? We would love to be eventually as we've been here 8 years now, got married here at the excelsior and have met some of the best people we've ever known here who have become great friends and some who have become family, not "like family" but FAMILY.

You will see the store empty out in the next week as we have to be out by October 31st and during our trunk or treat event on the 28th you won't hear any music from EmBear's and the store will be mainly open for me to get the last few things out as Emily helps with the event.

Lastly.... We know that everything happens for a reason and we certainly aren't afraid of what the future might hold, matter of fact we're looking forward to it and welcome it with open arms but one thing is for sure, no matter what the future brings we will never forget Jefferson, Texas and everyone here. Thank you so much to all of you, who have made us what we are and we will see y'all down the road.
