THANK YOU!

The 2024 season is a wrap and there's so much to be thankful for this season. We saw solid fields each week and great racing (even in the rain...).

The BMC / Walmart Cycling Team cooked food for everyone each week and we concluded the season with the traditional taco dinner presented by Custom Electronics Inc..

We also crowned the series champs in all categories with custom jerseys presented by Rapha.

Plus, collectively we did over 50 hours of community service by cleaning up the roads around Avoca.

Here are the results for our final race, #5.

PSA - The final race of our 2024 series that was originally scheduled for today, July 3rd has been rescheduled to next Wednesday, July 10th.

Bikereg and USAC should be updated.

For our final race of the year, we will go out with some extras. We will have primes in each race, crown our series champs and have our traditional taco dinner provided by Custom Electronics. Bring the family.

It’s race week! It’s hot and summer has set in. Make sure to stay hydrated and get ready for a smokin one tomorrow night.

Race #4 is tomorrow evening! We will be racing the same direction with right turns again, bib numbers on the left. 

Please pre-register online to save yourself some cash and help expedite registration on site.

The BMC team is also cooking hamburgers and hotdogs for everyone again. I’m so grateful for their generosity and contribution to the small race series, please thank Joe and their team for helping out.

Also, the final race #5 of the series this year will be pushed back from July 3 to the following week, July 10. I will update registration on bikereg accordingly. The final race of the series will be concluded with a huge taco cookout similar to years past. The custom electronics team knows how to serve things up and this is one you will not want to miss!

Racing this week is a GO.

The course thankfully has minimal damage from the recent storms.

Come out and race or watch as we try to resume some small bit of normalcy.

While this race series is just for building skills and having fun with friends, i hope everyone enjoys the atmosphere and small grassroots vibe.

Reac #2 is in the books! Such a great evening!

The weather finally gave us a break and race #2 was dry and super fast! Thank you to all the racers who came out to test your fitness and to the BMC / Walmart Cycling Team for firing up the grill and cooking food for everyone!

Thank you to everyone who came out last night to race or volunteer for race #1.

The ever-changing weather forecast seemed to give us a limited window to hold the races with a reduced duration. The first bit seemed to hold off and then things changed in a hurry. Thankfully all folks were able to complete a few laps and find some dryish space under the pavilion while the BMC team cooked food for everyone.

While we did not end up scoring the event due to the storm and fact most racers stopped, we did do our best to capture the top three for each category on the last lap completed.

And as luck would have it, only 30 minutes later we were welcomed with a full rainbow and bright skies... fingers crossed the rest of the season will be met with better weather.

We are a GO for race #1 tonight.

Based on data two weather apps, it currently shows possible storms after 7pm this evening in NWA. This said, we are going to shorten all races tonight by 1 lap to work to conclude the races around 7pm or shortly after.

It's race day!

I am watching the weather as I'm sure you all are as well. At this time, race #1 is a GO for tonight.

I will continue to watch the weather and make a final call at 3pm today and make another post here.

Safety is top priority so if the weather turns bad we may cancel the race this evening and reschedule.

PSA: HELP WANTED

Next Monday evening May 6th I am scheduling a road cleanup at Avoca prior to the first race on Wednesday the 8th. Cleanup will start at 530pm and we would like to have any help possible to do a full sweep of the entire 6mile loop.

In the past we have divided into two big groups and gone separate directions and met in the middle. Depending on how many folks show up, this may take 1.5hrs or so.

We will meet at he Avoca town hall building. Please bring brooms and leaf blowers.

Please join if you have time and are able to help.

Howdy 🤠 y'all!

We're back for another year of racing!

The series this year has five road races and all details from previous years will be consistent for 2024. We will race hard and celebrate each week post race with food and bev's for everyone.

Online reg will be live soon, please sign up in advance to save money and help us with registration onsite.

We will also have our annual Avoca road cleanup a few weeks before our first event. More info to come on that item..

Results for our final race of 2023 season!

It comes and goes so fast. Today is a bit bittersweet as we wrap up another great season of racing at Avoca. The sponsors, racers, families and community have made our series a staple in the community and its great to see the many positives products from the interactions.

Results for race #3.

We had our largest turnout of the '23 season with some great racing and a solid post race BBQ.

Our final race of the '23 season is next week (rainout makeup date). Please pre-reg on bikereg per usual. We will conclude the series with our annual Mexican fiesta dinner, sponsored by the crew at Custom Electronics.

We will also crown our series champions!

Race #2 was a bit wet but 42 folks respected rule #5 and lined up for a shortened version of each race (😍). Both races saw a lot of action with several attacks happening early that thinned each field down, and both races also ended in sprint finishes with a bike throw FTW!

For the folks who paid for race #2 last night and DNS, I have moved your entry over to next week (race #3) so no need to re-register.

Results for week #1.

Please reuse your bib for each race of the series. This week for race #2 we will go counter clockwise and bibs will be on the right.

Also, please make sure to place your bib correctly on your ride panel of your jersey. There were at least 10 people last week that placed their bib in a location on their back and we could not read the bib on the camera. If this happens, you will be placed at the back of the field.

Scoring for the series will be taken from the top fieve finishers each week. Points for the overall series will be awarded as follows: (1st=5pts, 2nd=4pts, etc.)

It's race week!

Race #1 of the 2023 series is this Wednesday evening. The weather looks primo and the course is in great shape now after a lot of road cleanup. We will race clockwise this week (right turns). Races start at 6pm sharp. Food and bev's for all.

Please take time to pre-register through bikereg.com before 12 noon on race day to help with onsite added fees and time. All folks who registered for the rainout last week will already be entered for the race this week.

UPDATE:

Avoca Race #1 is postponed due to weather forecast. All pre-registered rider entries will carry over to race #2 next week (5/3/23).

The rescheduled date for race #1 will be Wednesday, May 24th (will be the final race of the series).

Help Wanted

Tomorrow evening at 530pm we will meet at the Avoca pavilion and do a full course cleanup.

Please bring brooms and leaf blowers if you have them. The course looks pretty good already so we should be able to do a full sweep in and hour or so.

Also, this Wednesday is race #1 for our 2023 race series! Please pre-register!

Oh Hey!

The Avoca Race Series is back for 2023!

The 2023 series has been rebranded and will be a four race series (road only) with a similar race format as done in previous years.

Registration is live now on Bikereg.com. Please help the process by registering online for $20 per race. Onsite registration will be $30.

We are operating under USACycling for the series but racers are not required to hold an active USAC annual license. The series will not be scored towards USAC points for upgrades etc. This is a training series and we will score each race and date for a series champion per each category.

HELP WANTED: We will hold a race course cleanup two days before our first race. If you have some time to space, please plan to meet on April 24th at 530pm for course cleanup. Please bring brooms and leaf blowers. Depending on how many people show up, this effort may take 1-2 hours to complete.

Congratulations to Olivier Lavigueur for taking the overall series championship in the A category by 1pt over Johnny Purvis.

Congratulations to Aaron Allphin for taking the overall series championship in the B category, also by a narrow margin of 1pt over Jonathan Williams. (I originally miscalculated the overall for the B category and the results have now been updated)
