Over the winter I licensed some photos I took at the Geneee Valley Hunt Races to the National Steeplechase Association for use in their annual yearbook. I had a vague idea of the project, but for some reason had assumed that the final product would be something more akin to the thick 1/2” Dover Saddlery catalogs that used to come biannually growing up.

I had asked them to send me a copy of the yearbook upon completion, so imagine how shocked I was to find this beautiful hardcover in my mailbox last week! It’s full of history, gorgeous paintings, info and results from all of the NSA sanctioned races this year, and hundreds of photos from each event across the country. Definitely one of the coolest things I’ve l contributed to.

I spent some time in Maine a couple weeks ago, and one of my favorite parts was hiking the coastline at night. It was during a full moon and the way it lit up the ocean and the pines was so pretty. The images below were taken during the blue hour and a bit after into darkness, but the exposure was so long that they almost look like daylight. I rarely use slow shutter speeds and almost never shoot at night, but this landscape was magical. More of the Maine mountains and foliage to come later.

Catching up on posts over the next few weeks since I’m super behind. Back in spring/early summer I made a semi-impulsive decision to adopt a completely wild mustang from Colorado. It ended up not working out for several reasons, but of course I snapped a few photos of her first. She’s now thriving in a home with her new kid.

Occasionally, I actually take a photo of myself. I didn’t have a lead rope on her here, I just knew that if she was going anywhere it was to the nearest patch of grass. Clearly she understood the assignment.

I hopefully have a temporary fix to the computer situation so I’ll be catching up on a bunch of photo sessions this weekend. Fingers crossed I can resolve this for good sooner rather than later 🤞🏼
