That's a wrap on 2022!!! The Station has successfully closed out an INCREDIBLE and BUSY year!!! The Kern County Firefighters are thankful to be able to provide a beautiful space for your events, weddings, receptions, showers, birthdays, fundraisers, and corporate trainings and meetings! WHAT AN AMAZING PACKING & DELIVERY DAY!!!! We had an incredible time participating in the Albertsons Christmas Food Drive with Valley Feeding Project today!! This food drive has been going on for the last month and we have been totally honored to be a drop-off site for donations, as well as being the packing site for the Christmas dinners being passed out to veterans and disadvantaged seniors!!

With the help of the Bakersfield community, over 1,100 people will receive Christmas blessings this weekend!! We’re so proud to be a part of loving on members of our community who may have felt forgotten. We believe that every person is worthy of love! And we want to say “MERRY CHRISTMAS” to you!!!

It was so spectacular to volunteer with employees from Albertsons, staff from Bakersfield ARC, students from Frontier and Stockdale High School, the Kern County Fire Department, and the Girl Scouts! Everyone came together in joy and unity to make this cause a reality!!!

The Albertson's Christmas food drive and distribution this week was INCREDIBLE. Being the drop-off and packing site allowed us to mingle with donors, volunteers, coordinators, and packers! We were privileged to see the WHOLE gamut of this operations and it was QUITE a sight to see!!

Since 2009, the Valley Feeding Project has been delivering these meals annually to veterans and disadvantaged seniors who may not have anyone else to celebrate with! Many of them struggle with chronic food insecurity, isolation, and are on a fixed income. With the rise in food costs, they’re struggling to make ends meet, so we're hoping to make this food last through the weekend!

On this year's menu, we've packed a honey cured ham, mashed potatoes, corn, green beans, fruit cocktail (a favorite of the seniors!), Hawaiian rolls, and pumpkin pie!!

With your help during this drive for the last month, we were able to DOUBLE last years run! It's been such a blessing taking part in this food drive along with 6 participating Albertsons stores, Valley Feeding Project, and the Kern County Firefighters Union!!!

We had some amazing volunteers to pack meal bags and ride on delivery runs! THANK YOU to the students from Frontier and Stockdale high schools, the Girl Scouts, employees from Albertsons, and staff members from Bakersfield ARC!!!

Julie Walsh of Valley Feeding Project coordinates with the Housing Authority of County of Kern and the local VA office to find those who would benefit from this drive and from your generosity!

According to Walsh, one of their main reasons for this drive is to make sure the veterans and seniors in Kern County know that they're loved: “We want them to feel that they’re not forgotten.”

With all of your volunteering, donations, and fundraising efforts, over 1200 disadvantaged seniors and veterans will get Christmas meals and benefit from you generosity!!
