Thinking about you, Dad… up in heaven. 🙂
Always thinking of you, actually. So many great memories and so many valuable lessons you taught me. Even passing a good amount of those down to my own children. It’s quite an honor to call you Dad.
Through martial arts, sports, life lessons, the military and even further on into my passion for music…. You were always there for me.
I hope and pray I can be the best Dad possible with all my children and their children’s, children..!?!?! lol Thank you for still being my inspiration and a guiding light of what it takes to merely be…. a good Father..!
One of my lasting memories, as music has been a passion of mine since the age of 8….
We were celebrating my college graduation in Denver, Co at one of my favorite karaoke spots. My Mom’s side of the family was there supporting the night as well.
I sang my favorite song, “Dream On” - Aerosmith. I nailed the song and the audience responded with such a pleasant, loud and loving response.
As I came down off the stage area and back to my seat next to you, you gave me the tightest hug ever and said to me, “… you did it..! After all these years, you really did it..!” Not realizing all the hard work, behind the scenes, that I had been singing my butt off for quite some time. lol
Starting at the age of 14, I never gave up on singing and pushing to be the best I could. All selft taught. Later on in life, battling asthma, I still persevered and reached a successful level of talent. Strong enough to be in a cover band where we opened up for Warrant, twice and Fire House, once. I value those as some great accomplishments in my life and I will always be grateful for the immense support from both you and Mom..!
One of my funniest comments to both you and Mom.
“….you guys realize… we’re the “Only” Hispanics in town having one child..!?!?! AND… we’re Catholic..!?!?!” lol
I will always cherish you both..!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Dad..!
Your ever loving son,
- San Man
