Spent some time this morning clearing out the bottom canopy of the dahlias. This wheelbarrow is just one side of one 80’ row. Growing in such a humid climate means I need to maintain good airflow between plants to prevent any fungal growth or diseases. It’s a great time for me to put eyes on every single plant to check that they’re healthy and not battling any pests. It’s also a good time to make sure they’re not trying to bust out of the netting or growing so vigorously that they’re choking out their neighboring plants. The plants are so large at this point they’ll shade out any major weed growth so I most likely won’t weed again.

This is a second year seedling that is ticking most all the boxes so far. I’ll post another reel soon explaining what I’m looking for in a seedling but if this one stays consistent this season it’ll be a keeper.
