β’ Reduces risk of fungal diseases: Keeping leaves dry reduces the risk of powdery mildew and black spot
β’ Prevents leaf problems: Bottom watering keeps leaves dry, which helps prevent leaf rot
β’ Discourages fungus gnats: Female fungus gnats lay eggs on moist potting medium
