I present to you a cinematic representation of a cold winter’s day spent exploring the lonely countryside.

Rolling views of the valley, the soft and muted tones of the earth in its darker months, and the passion of two people who love each other more than an anything - what more could any of us have asked for?

Despite the nature of the season, there is an abundance of warmth and liveliness that resides within this collection. K+ D’s session encompassed so many strategically layered details to elevate the shared vision we all had. Watching all of the moving parts seamlessly blend together is a feeling I’ll never take for granted.

Photographing couples so candidly is a gift because it’s an honest insight into the foundation and character of their relationship. It is a constant source of inspiration to keep creating, to keep telling stories, and above all - to keep connecting with people.

There’s something about film photography that makes it feel so tantalizing. It’s imperfect, yet the soft tones and grainy texture make it so honest. It replaces instant gratification, and instead offers something that’s becoming more rare to us as each day passes - it offers us presence. Every frame is a deliberate choice to honor whatever the intention was of a specific moment that’s been suspended in time.

As much as we try, and as close as we get, one can never really quite replicate film’s gravitational pull. I think that’s why it’s once again resonating with so many couples today. It’s an opportunity to slow down, and savor the in-between.

It’s true that every photo tells a story, and this one of Ryan and I feels like a subtle reminder of all the eras we’ve grown through together.

Each year offers an opportunity to reshape the story we’re telling, a chance to build an era of our lives that reflect who we’re becoming.

This year, Wild Elements is in the midst of an evolution. New branding photos are underway, an updated and refined presence on the web, and refreshed client resources have been thoughtfully designed to improve every aspect of the client experience.

These changes reflect more than this present version of my work coming to the surface, but also the commitment I make to every couple who chooses to work with me.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to elope somewhere tropical with a magically clandestine quality, blanketed in ethereal landscapes in every direction?

Well, that’s Costa Rica. This country’s captivating nature transcends the realm of possibilities for elopement day celebrations.

Just take a look at D + C. Their experience is a raw embodiment of the Pura Vida spirit that lives within this Central American oasis. Surrounded by the melodies of tropical wildlife, drenched in the cool mist cast by the waterfalls, these two stand barefoot in awe of the world around them. If you feel at all enticed by the scenes above, Costa Rica may be the ideal place for you and yours to say “I do”.

I couldn’t help but share more of this delightful afternoon outing from this past fall with J + J. There’s nothing like a stroll through the woods when the air is crisp, and the leaves are falling all around you. This time of year has a way of comforting you like no other.

While I adore the fall, my relationship with winter needs some work. She can be hard to love. Warmer days are on the horizon. They may not be close enough to feel just yet, but they’re close enough to see. And I must say, that sits well with me.

There is so much to love about what this single frame symbolizes for this enchanting bride - the connectedness she feels when she walks the land with bare feet, her creative disposition that lead her to tattoo much of the beautiful work on her body, and the free spirit she carries that invites her to live spontaneously and love wholesomely.

One frame out of a gallery of hundreds holds so much sentiment, imagine the power of the entire collection? My goal for every wedding or elopement is to find creative and inspiring ways of documenting the essence of not only the day, but the people living it. That’s what matters most.

One of my absolute favorite details from this waterfront wedding was the raw oyster bar, complete with all of the fixings, that sat right on the shore of the beach. This detail elevated the dining and celebratory experience for everyone there, making it such a perfectly fitting piece of this couple’s vision.

It’s almost as if the world paused for a moment to honor the significance of the commitment that lies ahead.

Embracing the elements is often something I encourage to every eloping couple. It’s a choice that can transform your elopement into something far more meaningful than you ever imagined possible.

This couple, undeterred by the rain, found themselves immersed in a moment of solitude as they sat closely in a hidden meadow along the trail we spent the day hiking. The rain softened the landscapes around them, lending a cinematic quality that a sunny day could never replicate.

My advice to you is to approach the weather as an integral part of your story. Prepare adequately, but allow space for the unexpected to shape your experience into something you may have never imagined it could be.

Starting the new year off with refined and playful visions of these two lovers on one of the happiest days of their lives.

2024 gifted me the opportunity to work with incredible couples from coast to coast, in places near and far, and helped me to begin shaping the future for Wild Elements. You all set the bar high for 2025, and for that, I’m exceedingly grateful and excited for the challenges, adventures, and new stories that lie ahead.

When it comes to wedding and elopement photography, light is more than a technical element - it’s the thread that weaves emotion, atmosphere, and storytelling together in an intricate fashion. The way you interact with the light, and the way the light interacts with your surroundings, will be an influencing factor over the mood of your final images.

Just like many other wedding creatives, I too value the distinct artistic expression and authenticity in every celebration. I approach each wedding or elopement with a perceptual understanding of how light can shape or influence the narrative. Every shift in light offers a new creative dynamic to trademark different parts of your wedding experience, only making it more memorable.

The manner in which the sun casted its light through the trees in these specific frames added an undeniable sense of whimsy to the scenes that were unfolding between A + A. The greenery that surrounded these two newlyweds absorbed the light in such an ethereal way, and really set the tone for this part of their wedding day. Even in the black and white images, the presence of the sun is made obvious through its highlights.

Lighting is a powerful tool, and is something to be heavily considered when exploring the design of your wedding experience.

This single image will always qualify as one of my favorite frames in my wedding and elopement archives. It’s one I revisit often, and I don’t think that will ever change. Anyone who knows L + J can recognize the emotional depth that’s laced within these pixels, and how this image alone is a delightful representation of their relationship.

This Costa Rica elopement was full of all of the experiences two travel-obsessed, adventure-oriented, and wildly in-love people could ever imagine for their wedding day. It was, in fact, a culmination of their shared passions and values displayed in a most epic and romantic fashion.

An 8km hike full of cascading waterfalls, questionable hanging bridges, and beds of lush vegetation left over from the rainy season were staples of this day for us all. These things cemented the seclusion and wanderlust that made this experience whole.

From this celebratory excursion to a quiet evening in their Airbnb that sat remotely in the mountain side, D + C had it all. They created an elopement experience that balanced adrenaline with relaxation perfectly. I couldn’t imagine a better way to close out my 2024 weddings, than with these two in a place as captivating as this Central America gem.
