It only felt right to share these frames as I’m just three weeks away from another tropical escapade, and I couldn’t be more thrilled about the adventures awaiting on the horizon.

Instead of the Caribbean, this time we’re traveling to Central America. A new place, with new landscapes, and new immersive experiences to be had. I can’t wait to share more soon!

The way these two seamlessly melt into the California coastline is irrefutable magic. In fact, these few frames are a generous testament to the many reasons why eloping couples, local and abroad, seriously consider NorCal as their ultimate locale.

Northern California will always be a top destination on my list of best places to elope, here’s why ⬇️

- NorCal is like this enchanting conglomerate of dynamic landscapes and scenery. Vegetated forests full of Sequoias and coastal redwoods, impressive mountain sites, vast ocean views, awe-inducing cliff sides, plots of open fields, and dreamy beaches are all nestled within its borders. It’s secluded, but still easily accessible.

- The weather and climate offer ideal options year-round. Depending on the kind of energy you wish to encapsulate in your wedding experience, there’s a fair chance you’ll find it here. Some seasons offer rolling fog that sweeps across the landscapes, while others promise that perfect “sunny and 75” kind of day. If dramatic clouds and a sprinkle of rain are more of your thing, you can find that here too.

- You have a diverse array of things you can build into your experience with ease. Northern California caters to every adventure style. Whether you and your partner are thrill-seekers, or you’re the kind of people who gravitate more towards relaxing activities - there is something for you. You can expect to find renowned vineyards, extensive hiking trails, fine dining, ranch experiences, horseback riding, sailing, and so much more.

If you’ve been searching for a U.S. elopement destination that combines romanticism with exploration, with impressive landscapes that feel other-worldly, you’ll find that Northern California has everything you’re looking for.

Today I’m sharing a side of my work that you don’t see very often, even though it leaves me feeling just as humbled and whole as all of the rest.

These are the mere beginnings of parenthood.

That very first frame says it all. The way K + G softly admire the presence of the little one growing within will never leave me. It was in that moment I asked them to reflect on their lives and all that they endured, (the good and the bad), to now be entering this miraculous season of life together - a season that will forever alter their perception of what it means to live and grow.

We talked about all of the things parenthood encompasses - happiness, grief, pride, difficulty, patience, compassion, and all of the other emotions parenthood has a unique way of presenting to you.

While I am not a parent in the traditional sense, I fulfill the roll of mothering in other ways that allow me to understand at least some of the complexities of being a parent. K + G and I connected through this, and we exchanged our perspectives in beautifully curious ways. In fact, we still do. Many of our conversations often revolve around topics like these, and how we learn to navigate them.

Time after time, these two have invited me to be apart of their lives as they continue to evolve. There really is no better feeling than the one I get when I get to grow with the people who’ve given me many things to be grateful for. Telling their story as each chapter unravels is a gift.

Counting down the days until I can share more of this wholesome day that unfolded on the banks of the Severn River…but for now, this will have to do.

I hope you all have been enjoying these last days of fall. I can’t wait to catch up with you throughout the week, for I have so much to share!

I think there’s this subtle shift during the reception when champagne glasses are served. It marks a transition in the day when guests have fulfilled their role as quiet witnesses, and then become the people who have the honor of uproariously celebrating the couple they all know and love.

The spirit of the day does not reside in the glass, but in the people who toast them. What a wonderful thing it is to celebrate love.

If there’s one thing I know, it’s that these frames exude happiness - and if there’s anything that I’m sure of, it’s that I’m fortunate enough to be the recipient of the utter joy that vicariously trickles through every frame.

There is so much elegance in the simplicity of little details that complete the wedding day vision on a grander scale.

Forever swooning over the dainty and gentle nature of detail photos like these.

If you’re new here, welcome. I’m Ciana, and these images embody the reason I picked up a camera - and never put it down.

As a destination wedding and elopement photographer, I journey far and wide to document intimate celebrations of love. This path has afforded me the privilege of connecting with people from diverse backgrounds, documenting their stories through a distinctly candid, earth-focused lens.

It’s an honor to delve into the emotional depths and adventurous spirits of those I photograph, to witness them in their most vulnerable moments. Through this lens, I creatively articulate visual narratives that reflect not just who they are, but what they hold in great reverence.

This past week marked a significant moment for many, as the Aurora Borealis - an extraordinary natural phenomenon - lit up the skies due to a rare geomagnetic storm. For those fortunate enough to witness it, it was a reminder that life’s grandest moments often unfold in the most unexpected places.

As a photographer, my goal is to help cultivate and preserve experiences of this magnitude, allowing couples to savor their own once-in-a-lifetime moments, no matter where or how they unravel. I want people to know that their stories are important, and they too should have personal heirlooms that can attest to the profundities of their lives.

Whether you’re brand new or a seasoned supporter here, know that you are appreciated in every sense of the word. I can only hope our paths will, or continue, to cross.

As always, thank you for being here.

In a recent blog post, I tried to articulate the meaning of documentary-style photography in a way that couples could easily grasp. I wanted them to feel as if they had a clear understanding of this approach, making it simple for them to decide if this photography style is a missing piece in their wedding experience.

Even though I chose an entirely different wedding gallery to highlight in this blog post, these photos from A + D’s wedding stand out to me as a prime example of the power documentary photography holds.

“Rather than posed portraits or orchestrated scenes, documentary-style photographers focus on the real-life emotions. It’s the genuine interactions and subtleties that make your day uniquely stand out. This approach is especially appealing for couples who want to preserve the raw and unfiltered charm of their day.

They want photos that don’t just show how the wedding looked, but how it felt”.

Every time I see the image of A closely clutching D’s arm, looking at him with such love and admiration, I can’t help but feel as if I’m standing right there with them - watching these moments come to life right in front of me once more. These two look at each other with such tenderness and understanding, highlighting the intimacy of marriage.

If you’re interested in reading more of what I wrote on documentary-style photography, I’ll leave the link below. I hope you’re all having a wonderful autumn week 🤍

This last year I poured myself into a new website, curating new resources (of both the exclusive and free variety), and solidifying the branding and intention of this business.

And to celebrate, I thought, “why not reinvent and update every social media feed I have?” - creating a new priority that I hope adds more depth to what Wild Elements is all about, while providing value to anyone who explores any of these mediums.

It’s a funny thing - as you grow into your craft, you revisit archives of past work and discover frames that you had somehow overlooked. You find new favorites even if you and your skills have evolved in the time that’s passed. You are reminded of the feelings, experiences, and stories that have propelled you forward in your endeavors, and you recognize how the past and the present work together to keep bringing you strides of new opportunities.

So, I’ve decided that I want my feed to represent all of these things. I want people to be able to relish in stories of the past, while connecting them to the stories of the future. I want people to understand how their lives and personal tales have shaped me into the documentarian that I am today, and how I use the perspective they’ve gifted me to continue creating for others.

I guess what I’m saying is that if things look a bit strange around here as I’m redeveloping, bear with me. This is new era for Wild Elements, and it would mean the world to have you all continue on this path with me.

This post, one of the firsts of the social feed rebuild, is dedicated to my dear friends, G + C. Throughout all of their milestones, they’ve always had faith in what we could create together. Every encounter with them has been full of kindness, gratitude, and reminiscent of our changing seasons.

This day had been in the making for over a decade.

What an emotional and gratifying thing to bear witness to - two people seeking unification in one of the most remote areas of the west coast, surrounded by the confidence of rugged coastlines and the unwavering support of their closest friends and family.

Over a year ago, I remember sitting down with A + T in their kitchen as they vented their frustrations about trying to plan their wedding day. Every venue they had toured, and every recommendation offered to them, just wasn’t aligning with who they are or what they wanted. I knew we had to flip the script, and steer them into a new direction.

I asked them to explain to me what they wanted in their wedding experience. They wanted seclusion and quiet moments of privacy, but they still wanted to be around the loved ones closest to them. They wanted scenery that attested to their shared love of travel and adventure, but they wanted it to be easily accessible. They wanted the unconventional.

And that was when everything fell into place.

T actually proposed to A in Southern California, and I remembered how much they both enjoyed the specific charm the California coast offers. So I took a leap of faith, and showed them images from a previous trip I had taken to Big Sur. It was in that moment I could feel all of the pressure leave the room, and these two got excited about their future wedding again. It clicked for them in the way I had hoped, and with that, they began planning their truly enchanting elopement in Big Sur, California.

Big Sur showed up for these two in a way that could make any skeptic believe in divine timing or fate. The land, sea, and sky worked together to give us a vastly diverse display of its natural allure and beauty. From low-hanging misty clouds, to sun-soaked cliffs, to the rolling fog that pierced the mountains, their elopement experience reflected it all.

While this is just a tiny glimpse into this wildly unforgettable day, rest assured there will be more to come. A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this day what it was.

Something I look forward to, every year without fail, is the way the golden light casts itself across the endless rows of the wheat fields that line the hills.

One of the sweetest moments about experiencing this summertime phenomenon for another year is when I had the honor of documenting my longtime friends in one of my favorite places on the planet.

I find myself eager to share the lands I’ve always known with the people dearest to me. It’s both a thrill and delight to watch them indulge in the magic that resides here, too. The way this place has the power to accentuate anybody who visits is beyond me - but if one thing is for certain, it’s that it’s always a treat.

Sharing these today feels like a wonderful way to begin bidding summer farewell. I know her time left here is short, but I plan to soak up every last bit of it until she returns next season. I hope you all get to do the same 🫶🏽

A moment of intimacy, unprompted and genuine.

These old and towering trees and I the only witnesses, yet for these two, it was like no one was there at all.

These are the types of moments people unknowingly dream about sharing on their wedding day - it’s these moments that hold the greatest meaning to us, and the ones that take up the most space in our hearts.

My upcoming weddings for the year have been thoughtfully planned around intentional time and space that allow these moments to be at the center of their celebrations.

That is something I find an enormous amount of beauty in, which has led for me to advocate for every couple to construct a wedding experience that is centered around being present with each other.

Looking forward to more serene exchanges like this one, always.

Black and white imagery has a grip on my soul that will never weather away, and because of this, I’ve been able to foster that same connection within my clients - they have become keenly surprised by how deeply they treasure these specific photographic memories.

These types of images generate an acute sense of awareness surrounding how the scene has unraveled in each frame. They have a uniquely powerful way of preserving qualities of nostalgia and intimacy, but also mystique and curiosity.

These are exactly the reasons I chose to share these images. I believe that they are comprised of these things, making them some of the most sentimental captures in my growing collection of wedding celebrations. The ways in which love can be translated through the lens of a camera are both diverse, and eclectic.

Days like this are true testaments to the significantly unique qualities human life is composed of - things like love, emotional depth, celebration, and connection - all of which are displayed here between these two people.

In a universe as large as ours, the existence of human life sometimes seems to be miraculous rarity that has transcended infinite odds. But here we are, navigating the individual happenings of our own lives, carving out paths to and from each and every season we experience.

I have been eager to share the remnants of this day, and I feel so delighted I get to do so now. There is an artistry within every shared expression, every tender moment, and the ways in which we choose to construct our lives.

Here we are. In the midst of a summer hiatus from this digital paradigm. Although not intentional, it is inevitable given the workload that is just a natural part of the warmer weather. The amount of photos of people, places, and celebrations I have to share with you all is joyfully overwhelming - and I promise to share them all in due time.

The way you all continue to share your love, admiration, and support even in my times of involuntary absence could warm even the coldest of hearts. It is an honor to have you all here, tagging along for the ride that never seems to end and only becomes more and more interesting with time.

I love you all - enjoy this really lovely trip back down memory lane with a really lovely couple.
