Regarding the event held on Saturday, June 22, 2024, in Northwest DC, upon arrival, it was clear that the setup was planned in the park across the street from the home, contrary to our contract which specified a residential setting. This presented challenges as outdoor outlets were unavailable, necessitating a generator for power. Unfortunately, logistical constraints prevented us from obtaining a generator from Baltimore, and we recommended securing one from Home Depot, as they are typically not included with moon bounce rentals.
Additionally, there were issues with the foam machine rental, requiring a water source not available at the home. Despite these challenges, we diligently worked within the limited space provided to set up all rented items. We also offered credits for items that couldn't fit due to space constraints.
To address the lack of an outdoor water faucet, we connected the foam machine to the washing machine inside the home and demonstrated its operation. The concession stand was set up using the multiple available outlets.
Prior to completing the setup, we had communicated multiple advisories about power requirements and logistical challenges to ensure a smooth event.
Despite enduring hot weather and making considerable efforts to accommodate setup limitations, all equipment remained operational, allowing attendees to enjoy the activities as planned. We have video footage of children playing in the foam, highlighting the success of the event despite the challenges.
Later in the evening upon my return, I found all items still inflated, but unfortunately, guests were consuming alcohol and smoking ma*****na near children, which was concerning. Despite encountering hostility and complaints about timing and equipment functionality, we maintained professionalism and addressed concerns only with the contract holder.
As we approached the customer's door to discuss further, we faced disrespectful comments directed towards us, including false and hurtful accusations. Nevertheless, we proceeded with dismantling and collecting our equipment. Regrettably, tensions escalated when a guest and her sister attempted to physically confront my wife, while the brother threatened violence against our staff, mentioning a knife. During this altercation, the sister threw a drink at my wife.
The situation deteriorated further, prompting us to call the police for assistance. Despite the option to press charges for assault, we opted not to pursue legal action.
Moving forward, it's crucial to reiterate verbally, alongside written contract terms and email communications, that event hosts are responsible for ensuring adequate power and water sources. These details are fundamental to a successful event ex*****on. We remain committed to resolving any issues through appropriate channels, emphasizing professionalism and respectful conflict resolution.
We appreciate the opportunity to have served at your event and regret any misunderstandings that occurred. Should you wish to discuss this matter further, we are open to dialogue and resolution.
Warm regards, Fun Factory
