We may be in the thick of what I lovingly like to call the “Design Season” time of our year as planners, dreaming up some amazing events to come, but I’m still reminiscing on Galentine’s Day and how special this evening felt.

What put my look even more over the top was wearing a stunning diamond set (necklace, bracelet, and earrings) from . I can’t thank Susie enough for loaning these precious pieces; they were a true delight to wear and it was honestly really difficult to make myself take them off at the end of the night (and, return them lol).

She’s got that Pisces energy, is a total girl’s girl, and is an all-around lover of life and the people in it. Genuine and generous to say the least, Melissa is the biggest cheerleader of all of our couples in their wedding days and beyond.

From eating pizza together in NYC at 1 am after a wedding to watching the sun set in Paris along the Seine, I felt beyond lucky to have shared so much time with Melissa through our 2023 season, and can’t wait for our upcoming couples to experience her true passion for weddings as our lead planner later this year and beyond.

Remembering back to this iconic rooftop moment when Diane and Jeremy included a Chinese Lion Dance at their wedding reception. We designed and planned their intimate 21-person wedding with only three weeks lead-time (ah, Covid era!) It was important to Diane to honor her heritage by infusing a few special touchpoints into the celebration; we spoke throughout our planning together about creating the most welcoming experience possible for guests that embraced family history, tradition, and culture.

The ceremony time was determined by the Chinese auspicious hour, and fell exactly during sunset, creating a magical after-dark mood. Diane honored her parents with a tea ceremony and a special private toast. We hand-crafted light-up floral wands for guests to hold during the ceremony recessional and incorporated red, symbolizing luck, joy, and happiness, into the design.

Wishing everyone an exceptional Year of the Dragon today and a fabulous year ahead.

BRIDEStalk room flips—if you’re using the same space for your ceremony AND reception, there are a few tricks we use behind the scenes to make sure this transition happens seamlessly. 💯 Hire a trusted caterer who has ample experience with your venue. Truly, they have the team numbers to facilitate all of the moving parts and move tables around. Your planner will know more about this, because good caterers make our jobs so much easier! 💯 Pre-set tables, if possible. We’ve done it both ways and it definitely takes longer to fully build and set tables rather than having them pre-set. 💯 Make sure your florist and any other key vendors (lighting!) are on site to assist. Many hands make light work 💅🏻 For this wedding, our stationer was also on site, which was amazing @polkpaper! 💯 Plan out with the caterer in advance when they’ll pour water and when room and detail photos will be taken. And, take weather/humidity into account (no one wants water rings on their linens in gorgeous table photos)! 💯 Be flexible with cocktail hour timing and increase it to an hour and a half if possible.
