What a week at New York Finals!

Congratulations to MCPA faculty, dancers, and parents! Such an exciting week for the students to enjoy class, practice audition skills, perform on stage, attend college auditions and so much more. MCPA students shined throughout and we could not be more proud of the improvement seen in each dancer this season.
Special congratulations to “Mechanisms” choreographed by Isabella Torres which placed 1st in group, chosen for Junior Gala performance, and is winner of the Junior Critics Choice Award. More highlights;
“It’s Got to Be Sweetness” choreographed by Maeghan McHale Hobbs chosen for Teen Gala, Lily and Aubry Mason chosen for Outstanding Dancer Gala, Scholarships received and so much more….Some detailed awards are listed below. The biggest rewards of the week were the experiences that the dancers were able to participate in that allowed for individualized awareness and growth and encouraged newly set goals for upcoming months; shared experiences with their MCPA family and dance friends from other schools. A great week of Dance! Thank you NYCDA for a stellar event and wonderful opportunities for the dancers to explore.

Mid-Atlantic Center for the Performing Arts celebrating Dance on the stage! “Mechanisms” winning National Juniors Critics Choice!!! All can be proud of this recognition. “Mechanisms” was selected to re-compete in the Junior Gala. We were small in number yet mighty in presence:) So many talented dancers were on that stage and we are happy to be recognized amongst such talent. Congratulations were shared for the level of training, the composition of choreography so well structured, and the ex*****on of training and choreography by our MCPA dancers. Special congratulations to Isabella Torres for capturing the excitement that dance can bring to a stage in her choreography “Mechanisms”. So proud! Thank you to our MCPA faculty that pour their heart everyday into our dancer’s growth and training. The dancers who represented on the stage last night- What a moment on that stage!!! Be proud of your progress. Way to go girls!

The girls are off to an amazing start and while many of us are in New York, a dedicated few are painting the lobby. Thank you parents!

Gala 2024
What a day!!! We hope you were able to attend and share with our dancers a celebration of dance and community. So many thank yous to be given from fund raising volunteers to program volunteers to dads moving floors and balloon extravaganzas and backstage help and lobby help and oh my goodness I’m not sure anyone truly understands the efforts that goes into creating a seamless day:) until they are involved. Gala 2024 was a success and such a celebration of our school, our faculty, our students, and our families! Act 1 was a special presentation of excerpts from La Bayadere that included both our pre-professional levels and our open levels. Such a wonderful presentation.
A special thank you to Mr. Dima, Mrs. Ninel, and Mrs. Lindsay for putting this together in a month,

Madison Hoadley joined MCPA in her highschool years. We are so glad and fortunate that she found us! We could not imagine the last years without her. Madison is a great student and a significant part of our MCPA community. Madison experienced many new moments with us- student teaching, attending outside dance events and on stage as a soloist dancer…. The growth we have witnessed in her these past years is pretty incredible and we look forward to all there is to come for Madison.

Madison has chosen to continue her education at the University of Oklahoma as a modern dance performance major where she received scholarships in both academics and dance! Our MCPA family is so much better for Madison being a part of it and her next Oklahoma Dance family should count their lucky stars.
Congratulations Madison we love you!!!

Nikala has been part of our MCPA family for so many years and we have grown with her as much as she has grown with us. She is the kindest soul with no time for drama, loves her unique purses and knitting daily. We remember her as a baby dancer walking down our hallways and we've been encouraging her all the way, letting her know she could accomplish whatever she set her mind to.

Now she encourages younger dancers by her example both in and out of the classroom. In keeping with Nikala's positive outlook, she applied to many colleges just to see what opportunity was out there…. and no surprise to us, many colleges responded with a resounding yes.

Nikala has chosen to attend Penn State where she will be majoring in animal science!

It will be hard to imagine our hallways without Nikala in them on the daily:) but we are rooting for her every day as she takes on this new chapter, new challenges and goals! Congratulations Nikala! We love you!

What a weekend!
So proud of all of our MCPA dancers! The continued improvement made in class and attention to details in rehearsals all came together when they hit the stage this past weekend. It was wonderful to get a second chance to be together youngest to oldest presenting our work alongside other schools.
So much to celebrate but mostly the improvement of every MCPA dancer. I had appreciated moments of kind words sharing that our students were next level. I take pride in this because I know how hard we all work to make this happen; faculty and students hand and hand with the support of parents all along the way. It was great to share the stage with our fellow Maryland schools. Every school so unique from the other and we grew by watching and celebrating each other while focusing on doing what we do! Congratulations to every MCPA dancer for all of the heart shown this past weekend!
Now back to work and onto next goals 🙂
