Republic Of Texas Radio update. Off grid is, well, off grid. We’re in the midst of our second brand new generator giving up the ghost within 3 months of use. Second one died around 6 weeks ago. So per the warranty to replace it, it has to be checked out by an authorized repair shop. Closest one to us is a 4 hour round trip drive. So we dropped it off at the shop around 3 weeks ago this past Friday. Said shop had a round of the crud hit that they passed around to all the employees. Small business, completely understandable, if everyone is sick, everyone is sick. So I’ve been calling every few days, mostly getting voicemail with inability to leave one because inbox is full. At the same time, emailing back and forth with the manufacturer in Illinois. In essence asking WTF? It’s getting hotter here in Texas daily and costing us money daily on top because your product doesn’t last 3 months, twice now! Mind you nothing as bad as “the in the field” I did in the Army. But I was a much younger human that hadn’t had a heart attack followed by a stroke back then. But we’ve got by. Burn gas in the car with an inverter running a battery charger to charge the batteries to start the RV, also burning fuel, V10 engine. Just the basics, lights, a little power to the fridge etc. Costly! We’re slowly adding solar supplemental, but that’s also an expense on top of constantly filling gas cans for either the car or RV. Been three weeks, can’t ever get he shop on the phone that we had to take it to, 4 hour round trip, not like I can just swing by and check the status. So long story short, my third brand new generator should arrive by this Friday. And I can go pick up the generator that has been at the shop, not touched for three weeks, keep it, pay someone to repair it if I like, use it for parts, whatever. Pretty telling if you ask me, cheaper to just ship me a new one than fix the one I have that’s still under warranty, 2:year warranty, didn’t make it 3 months, and this is twice now. So hopefully this Friday I actually have power to run my PC and get some work done. Hopefully 3rd time is a charm. I’ll be recording at least 3 weekly shows of my own. Texas Blues with B.B. Springs, Live from The B Side which I’m talking with local venues about hosting a weekday night event that’s live recorded in more of the singer-songwriter vein of things and lastly the Texas Top Ten which will be compiled of the top ten songs by Texas based artists in every genre that I cultivate based upon discussions with the other DJ’s that I give time slots to where they upload their own shows. Already have a few content providers coming on board, some with their own shows/podcasts that will just upload quasi syndication under our umbrella so to speak as well as some new folks willing to give it a shot at producing shows. Any genre, anywhere in the Republic Of Texas playing strictly content by Texas artists only. Now I know some of you may know my political take on stuff, and we may even have had heated discussions in contrary directions. There’s no room for any of that here. The one and only 100% goal is to celebrate and spread Texas music to a wider audience, period. So if you are a Texas based artist, hit me up at [email protected] about submitting your music, same goes if you would like to talk about hosting/producing a show to fill a time slot. The hosting platform allows us to upload playlists, which we will divide by genre category, whatever your genre format is for your show, you just have to use songs that are submitted, that simple. Might just discover a band you have never heard of and they become your favorite new band that you use your show to build a following for. Start sending me stuff now. It will of course take me a minute to get all the working parts in line. Get submitted songs uploaded and into the system broken down by genre for hosts to build their shows from music wise. There will be kinks to work out I’m sure. The not rolling live yet, just build and upload your show before your broadcast time slot time for the week hits helps with the glitch control.
