Meet Carolyn!

Carolyn is a woman of strength, heart, and unwavering dedication. She married her high school sweetheart, Steve Rookus, at the age of 19, and from the very beginning, devoted
herself to supporting his journey, including helping him through his Civil Engineering education while working in an office. As Steve served in the U.S. Navy, Carolyn embraced the adventurous life of a military spouse, raising four children while traveling the world. Wherever they landed,
Carolyn made a lasting impact—volunteering tirelessly in schools, 4-H programs, band boosters, and church communities. Alongside Steve, she also helped build and renovate several homes, combining hands-on work with a creative eye.
Once their children were all in school, Carolyn pursued a new chapter, earning her insurance license and working in the industry. Despite being offered a promotion, she made the heartfelt decision to step away from her career to focus on her family. When Steve retired from the Navy,
he encouraged Carolyn to imagine a business that could blend their talents. The answer was clear: a wedding venue. With his expertise in construction management and her years of
experience in hospitality and event coordination, it was a natural fit—one that beautifully reflects
the life they’ve built together.

Meet Steve!!

Steve Rookus is a civil engineer and retired naval officer whose life has been defined by service, adventure, and deep-rooted family values. He met his wife, Carolyn, in the church nursery—best friends since childhood—and their story took a fun twist when they carpooled to visit their respective high school sweethearts in Detroit, only to end up falling for each other. Married in 1982, they’ve raised four children, lived in 14 different homes across the globe, and now delight in the joy of 13 grandchildren. Carolyn, who later worked in insurance and even drove a school bus for a time, has been Steve’s partner in every chapter—including restoring their 50-acre farm into a charming wedding venue in 2016 to host their daughter’s wedding. Their years in the Navy, surrounded by diverse cultures and the importance of tradition, gave them a unique ability
to navigate wedding days with grace, calm, and empathy—especially as recent parents of the
bride and groom themselves. Passionate about animals, deeply involved in 4-H, and the heart
behind community-favorite cowboy camps, Steve and Carolyn bring a spirit of hospitality,
warmth, and genuine care to everything they do.
