“I want an updo so that it’s off my face and shoulders” or “it will be hot in there and I don’t want to sweat”

These are often terms we hear when determining which hair style to give a member of the bridal party.

This girl in particular wanted an updo. Rather than blindly giving her what she asked for I did a thorough consultation.

Clients hair was extremely thick and heavy. I explained to her that doing an updo would eventually feel heavy and possibly hurt throughout the night, causing her to have a headache. (How can you enjoy a special night sporting a headache) To which she then discloses that yes, in fact everytime she pulls her hair back she gets a headache.

I suggested doing a unique boho style Braid. Something that checks all the boxes without the headache.

I checked back in after finishing to see if she still wanted to pull it all up into an updo to which she let me know she was extremely happy with and in love with the braid.

She was glowing with happiness ✨

As professionals, don’t be afraid to let your client know that what they may be asking for isn’t necessarily the best option for them. Give them ideas of what would work best and they might just agree with you. 💁‍♀️
