“If you want to know what is important to someone, pay attention to what they photograph”.
Capturing beautiful memories for you to cherish forever is my priority and the reason I am so passionate about my photography. Rather than being confined to a one location studio, I prefer to give my clients their choice of location where they can feel relaxed and comfortable in a more natural setting, with the use of outdoor and natural light photography.
I have always had a passion and love for photography, this love intensified after the birth of my daughter and all the joys, hardships, blessings, and struggles that followed. I believe we should all live every day that we are given, doing our very best and reaching for a better future, embracing the ups and downs while never giving up on a dream.
Cherish your memories. Someday YOUR memories may sit in a frame on your son or daughter’s dresser; on their son or daughter’s dresser; on their son or daughter’s dresser.
I am blessed. I’m blessed to have been given the ability to capture beautiful moments for people and their families. This is not just a paycheck to me. It is providing people with memories that will last for generations. It’s telling someone’s story when they are no longer here to tell it themselves. I don’t think for a minute that I earned this or that my hard work has paid off. God gave this to me. God gave me the motivation to pick my dream back up and succeed in building it.
The day I gave birth to my daughter I had a photographer in the room to capture the moments I knew would become a blur. Little did I know 6 weeks from that exact day, those moments would be close to the only memories captured that my daughter would have to look at with her father in them. I hold those memories close and I know someday they may provide her with the comfort she needs when she looks at the photos and see the love radiating through them.
Being a new mother and only parent, I gave up on my dream and took a fulltime position at a hospital with full benefits. Day after day I dropped my daughter off to someone else and wished I could be with her. I was working my hardest and getting nowhere. I started doing photography again on the weekends and as happy as it made me, it took more time away from my daughter. I started turning down sessions and weddings because my schedule simply didn’t allow it. I knew I had to decide. A decision to give up my passion or a decision to have faith and put everything I had into it.
I prayed. I prayed so much. I was led through given opportunities and success years later to give my notice at the hospital and daycare and jump into my photography with both feet. I started off as a self-taught cell phone photographer, to an educated, experienced fulltime photographer with a full workload, booking into the year ahead.
It is never too late to follow your dreams. Trust in God. He may take you through rough terrane to shape you but he will never lead you astray.
