Let's Talk - Grazing Table Edition
❗️Accountability
❗️Portion Size
❗️Price
❗️Transparency
The first topic of discussion: Accountability & Portion Size
This before and after picture of this past weekend is a great example. Some people ask about food waste with a grazing table. This was a grazing table for 60 people.
A grazing table is a great way to have multiple accessible options for an appetizer or meal. (The best part is it can be customizable) Of course, it's elegant, beautiful, and eye-catching. But you know what is not elegant, beautiful, or eye-catching? FOOD WASTE. That is why I work so hard on portion sizes and making sure that there is minimal left at the end.
What is included in a grazing table, you ask? Great Question!
3 oz of meat/cheese, a generous handful of fresh fruit and vegetables, and a subsequent portion of crackers, bread, dip, and jam to go along for EACH PERSON. In addition, there is always something sweet on every grazing table to finish off.
Accountability and Size Portion are not to minimize the money spent on the food or cut costs. This is to do our part in the bigger picture. I offer to-go boxes and ziplock bags at the end of every table and event that I set up. This is so that IF there is something left (Because we aren't always perfect - and sometimes not everyone shows up that we expect) it can be taken home and eaten later. Nobody wants to pay for food that is wasted.
That is why we spend the time to cut, wash, and prepare the correct ounces and sizes of food portions. Which is why you will see minimal left on this after picture I took.
The second topic of discussion: Price and Transparency
NOW, I have had a lot of questions regarding price. I want everyone to know that my prices are accessible on our website at https://tastevt.square.site/ We also have a MENU under "featured" at the top on our page with most of our current offerings but our website has them ALL.
You shouldn't EVER have to search around or "message us" for prices. OF COURSE it is OK to do so, but I want you to feel that you have access to these prices as well. You should be able to look at your leisure. There is no secret "message us for pricing" or what our catering options currently are. We are always adding more options in, so if you don't see something for catering, just ask! I am currently expanding our catering options and can't wait to be able to offer more!
Back to our grazing table discussion! The price is $12 per person for a grazing table. Grazing tables are not something that you can pick up at our shop. They are delivery only. Depending on where you are located, that will depend on the delivery/set up fee.
To an outside customer, you see the beautiful table.
To me, I see the cost of the plates, cutlery, tongs, napkins, gas, food costs that are constantly fluctuating, AND the TIME it takes to put into washing, cutting, prepping, and packing the food. I also look at the time it takes to drive back to the location, take down, and WASH all of the items that were used for props. More time, water, heat, lights, etc. This is not said to justify the price, it's more to let you know the process behind these grazing tables.
I enjoy what I do. I charge accordingly, and I know the quality that I provide.
It's the LITTLE things, the human touch, and the kindness that I receive after events that make it all worth it.
Cheers, my friends!
