Not flower related, but we dug up 50 lbs of sweet potatoes this morning! I think we’ve finally found a low maintenance veggie to grow here! 🙌🏼

Y’all went crazy over tulips this spring and I am so excited to be starting the process already for Spring 2025 tulip mania!

These bulbs look SO GOOD! Like night and day difference from the bulbs I ordered last year. Which means the tulips are going to be even bigger and better than they were this year.

They are going to chill (literally) in the fridge for the next month or two and then when temps are more consistently cold here I’ll plant them out! Tulips need a certain number of “chill hours” and the fridge helps me accomplish that!

Let the waiting begin!

Had the privilege of making some HoCo flower accessories for some of my favorite high school kids from church and their friends and dates. I’m loving seeing all the pictures roll in! They all looked amazing and it was an honor to be a tiny part of their fun night!

I’ve been quiet on here this week due to some sickness, general family busy-ness, and some behind the scenes work. Kids are in bed now, so it’s time to get some work done!

The flower stand will be open tomorrow! There will be:
-dried flower pumpkin arrangements of varying sizes
-wrapped bouquets (the last of the season aside from hopefully one week of sunflower bouquets coming up)

I’m also working on some corsages and boutonnières for HOCO tomorrow! It’s going to be a late night. 🫠

I’ll be waking up early to make bouquets for you all tomorrow! They will probably look something like this bouquet from an order I filled on Wednesday evening. I can’t say for sure, but it might be the last Saturday of wrapped bouquets for the season! 😱😭.

As the farm begins to wind down, another very important part of flower farming begins to ramp up! Planning and preparing for the next year. We had a pile of compost dumped yesterday, and my kids got straight to work turning it into their personal playground. 😅 If you need me for the next couple weeks I’ll probably be moving dirt around. 😂

If you’re curious about the bouquet making process, I recorded this video while making a bouquet yesterday! This is NOT how I make my Saturday bouquets- those are made in more of an assembly line fashion since I make so many at once. I’m still learning about floral design and how to make a bouquet look intentional and not just stuffed full of flowers. It’s a fun journey, and I thank you all for giving this opportunity to create and share with you!

Sound up! These are the most interesting little flowers I’ve ever grown! They are called strawflower, and their petals are delicate, papery little things that make a rustling noise when rubbed together. They are getting hung to dry for use at a later date! Also, bonus points to whoever can identify the bird call at the end! We love the birds in our neighborhood. 🥰

I’m hoping that this will bring some joy and cheer to a sweet girl who is in the hospital and her mama who is struggling watching her daughter suffer. Praying for a lift in their spirits and speedy healing! 🙏🏻
