LOOKY LOOKY Alot of people have told me batesburg-Leesville will always be the redheaded stepchild of Lexington County. Well here is more proof it's true last year my wife and I purchased the old piggly wiggly. We renovated the building and opened a custom carbide cutting tools company. We are currently making tools for companies throughout the south. We informed the town that we like to use the abandon building act title12 chapter 67 in the code of laws that gives us a property tax break of 75%of the property taxes for 8 years. We are lucky that our town council is responsible for approving this act.If you read the letter from the county below they object to it.I guess the county would like us to leave all the buildings abandon and not improve our town.I would like to let everyone know that even our county councilman Larry brigham voted not to let us have the tax break. It goes to show you he has no interest in bringing jobs or improving our town.I always thought our county councilman was here to help represent the town I guess not in his case.O to let everyone know the lost revenue to the county for the tax break is $472.30 a year for 8 years
