Opera Louisiane has appointed Grammy Award-winning tenor Paul Groves as its new general director. Groves, a Lake Charles native, brings with him an illustrious career that has graced the world’s leading opera houses and concert stages.

A huge congratulations to our incredible Artistic Director,Michael Borowitz, for his brilliant direction of this stunning evening. Meet Elizabeth Herlitz Cortes, Opéra Louisiane's new Interim Director of Development and Community Engagement!

She's a Baton Rouge native with a rich background in opera and
arts advocacy. She brings experience, dedication, and a strong commitment to her hometown.

Herlitz Cortes has served as the Director of Development for Spotlight on
Opera, a vibrant young artist program at Centenary College in Shreveport, Louisiana.

“Development is a calling," Herlitz Cortes said. "Just like being a teacher or a singer or any kind of artist, this is a life of service. We serve the composers, the music, the story we are trying to tell and most importantly, we serve our audience."

Elizabeth’s personal journey in opera began in high school at The Dunham School,
encouraged by her choir director, Judy Hicks. She went on to study vocal performance at under Patricia O’Neill, where her love for opera was
truly ignited.

She furthered her education at Bowling Green State University, where she was a
member of the Toledo Opera Young Artists Program while pursuing her Masters of
Music.
