Hi friends! I’ve been debating whether or not to say this, but I had an appointment with my EDS doctor yesterday which confirmed some things for me.
As some might not know, I have some medical issues that have impacted me performing at shows in the past. More specifically, I have Dysautonomia, Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), convulsive syncope, Sjogren’s Syndrome, and Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. Two of these diagnoses have been given and confirmed within the past 2 months, while the others I have been dealing with since about 2019.
In order to truly heal my body to the best of my ability, I’ve come to the decision to take a step back from drag indefinitely… It truly breaks my heart to have to do this, as I had to give up dance to an extent whenever I first started having these medical issues. However, I know my body can’t handle the heavy impact that drag puts on me. I can barely go to my everyday job half the time, so doing much more than that isn’t in the cards for me right now.
I don’t know where I would be without drag and without the experiences that drag has given me over the past year. I feel like I’ve found myself and understand myself so much more thanks to the opportunities I’ve had through this art form! I won’t say Atarah is retiring completely, because I have hope that she can and will make a comeback, but for now, until I can get my body and my health in order, Atarah says see ya later!!!😘👑💎 and thank you all💕
P.S. If anyone is curious about my medical journey, you can get updates over on my other account
