“My wedding day was a very hot, 85-degree day in September of 2019. I figured it would be a little colder, especially with it being September in Michigan, but unfortunately, the weather had other plans. It was a beautiful whirlwind, as wedding days usually are, and we had 285 of our closest family and friends together that day. Our wedding party was phenomenal, and they made everything really fun, positive and upbeat. Everybody had a ton of fun, and it was really nice.

My dress was by Maggie Sottero, which I have here in the store. It was strapless and all embroidered with vines and florals. It had a really long train and it was picturesque for a church wedding. It was just stunning but I'm biased! It was very pretty and I loved it.

I actually traveled down to Ann Arbor to get my dress because I wanted a specific designer who I was absolutely set on. She was on the show ‘Say Yes to the Dress’ and went down to I tried her dresses on because they were the only place in Michigan…and I hated them!

When I put on the one I thought I wanted, I looked like a cupcake! Me being five foot three and the dress being as wide as I was tall, did not work out for me. That was the first time I tried on dresses, too. At first, I was defeated a little bit honestly, because I was so dead set on this one dress and this one designer. My mom encouraged me to look at some more dresses because I had only picked out that one dress.

So, I thought, ‘I'm still going to find my dress here,’ and I went in the completely opposite direction. I walked in wanting a poofy ball gown, but walked out with skinny, strapless and embroidered.

I wish I would have gone in with a more open mind, and that’s the approach I take here at First Look. I have 105+ dresses in store and of all different shapes, sizes, styles. I’ll definitely pull the one you found on Pinterest, along with some other ones, too!”
