The Historic Masonic Temple is a 130+ year old structure with a lot to offer. Today it functions as a Community Center for the Arts with a focus on providing education, performance, and artist incubation opportunities. Much of what we do is created, developed, and driven by the input of our community around us and we invite YOU to come create with us!

It's Monster Movie time! A Dracula Double Feature awaits our intrepid audiences tonight; the famed Bela Lugosi 1931 classic will be shown first, followed by the Spanish Language cast including Carlos Villarias and Lupita Tovar. Early movie studios relied on exporting films to other countries to help fund the projects, but while silent movies could be easily exported, "talkies" proved a little more difficult. Clever execs came up with the plan of creating two movies at once, shooting the English Language script during the day and using the same sets and similar costumes with a Spanish Language script at night. It's not dubbed, it's a completely different cast and crew! Compare the two and spot the differences tonight at 8 PM or Midnight!

This weekend, it's a Dracula Double Feature! We are showing the 1931 Bela Lugosi version of the tale, followed by the rarely-shown Spanish Language cast version of the horror classic! Sponsored by Christa Schubert, tickets are only $2 and one ticket gets you into both shows! Concessions are available for purchase, and this is a perfect affordable night out! Please note the start times for this movie will be 8PM and Midnight to accomdate for the double feature.

It's Halloween year-round at the HMT! We are celebrating the 10th anniversary of our Midnight Monster Movies with an extended season; November's show is the 1931 tentpole classic, DRACULA. Not only will we be showing the Bela Lugosi English Language version of the film, we have a double feature of the Spanish Language cast as well! Yes, Universal Films had two casts film two versions of the same script at the same time, and we're showing both for only $2 next Saturday, November 16th!

Most of our lighting fixtures are the original antique brass gas lamps! Wiring was run through the fixtures for electric but if you look here you can see the gas valves that would control the flow of gas to the lamps, as well as the gas jets that would have originally lit!

Dark Night Audio Theatre is finishing up recording on the next production, Jules Verne's classic JOURNEY THROUGH THE IMPOSSIBLE. Fans of vintage science fiction, adventure, and horror will love this exciting tale from one of the earliest masters of the craft! Our voice actors will also be performing a special, one day only staged reading of the production at the end of the month; this is a great way to support this innovative program and get a sneak peek at the material. Welcome back, Midnight Monster Movies! This month's is a Dracula Double-Feature with Dracula (1931) and...Drácula (1931)!

Peep the slight time change to accomodate this double feature (November 16th, movies start at 8pm instead of 9pm), and mark your calendars for this month's Universal classic!

Time for some Monstrous fun facts about our upcoming DOUBLE FEATURE, 1931's DRACULA!

How can Dracula be a double feature? It's just one movie! Well actually, when Universal was filming the 1931 classic starring Bela Lugosi, they were simultaneously filming a Spanish language version with a whole separate cast, led by Carlos Villarías as Dracula. When the English cast would wrap filming for the day, the Spanish cast would come in and film on the same sets at night! The Spanish cast also had the advantage of being able to watch the English cast's "dailies", coming up with new ways to try and top them. This results in a lot of artistic edge in the Spanish language version (and an additional 30 minutes of film).

Dracula will be showing Saturday, November 16th at 8pm and midnight, with the two versions of the film running back to back, starting with the English version. Tickets are only $2.
