“Taking the City By Storm: The Birth of Milwaukee’s Punk Scene”, is a documentary focusing on the progression of Milwaukee’s protopunk, punk, new wave and alternative music scene from 1975 to 1985. It is a "slice of life" documentary following the ups and downs of the early pioneers of the scene during those exciting & turbulent years. A deep-rooted Midwestern blue collar work ethic influenced club owners and musicians, which led to the prolific production of DIY 45 and LP records.

Last night someone said I look like Anthony Hopkins... I like that. Now, I have to work on my accent.

Anthony Hopkins calls working on his biography a 'weird process,' but tells PEOPLE 'I do have quite a memory.

"The peloton always had known ahead of Sunday’s stage that it was going to be a brutal day, but few expected the gravel to have such a severe impact on their ability to, at the most basic level, ride their bikes at all. On the second sector, a pinch point at the narrow start to the white road caused riders to slow down so much that it became impossible to keep traction on the gravel. The result was riders in the peloton of the world’s biggest bike race being forced to jump off and run in their cleats, slipping and sliding over loose rocks with very little skill or grace at all."

Riders stood at the finish line in Troyes sporting thousand yard stares and lips caked with congealed dust. Their eyes were glazed over with the exhausted shock of it all: the gravel roads around northeastern France had chewed them up and spat them out again, their bodies battered and their lycra st...

TODAY: One of the most anticipated stages in this year's Tour de France is stage nine on Sunday, a newly anointed gravel stage, hailed as the stage of the chemins blancs, or the white roads. For the Tour de France, it's a first. But really, this foray into gravel has been years in the making.

Years in the making, the Tour heads into an unprecedented stage which contains 14 sections of gravel roads

I wish I could be there... WoW! premiering Sunday, May 5, starting at 1 p.m., at Linneman’s Riverwest Inn. "I have complete confidence that anyone who invests the 6.5 hours it takes to watch the whole thing will be convinced that every second spent was a worthwhile investment."

Milwaukee musician Sigmund Snopek is the subject of a long-running documentary film to be screened at Linneman’s Riverwest Inn.

Amy Villlalpando isn’t just our employee. She’s a friend. She’s a mother. She’s a valued member of the Door County community.

And she needs our help.

You’re invited to our fundraiser on May 4 to help us raise money to support Amy so she can focus on her recovery after recently facing a series of serious health challenges that have significantly impacted her life.

On Thursday, February 22, Amy experienced difficulty breathing and sought medical attention at DCMH. To our shock, the physicians discovered a serious condition—a blood leakage into her chest, which necessitated her immediate transfer by helicopter to St. Vincent's Hospital in Green Bay. There, it was determined that Amy, at only 42 years old, required emergency open-heart surgery due to an aortic dissection. Regrettably, her ordeal did not end there; she subsequently experienced symptoms of a stroke, resulting in partial loss of vision in her left eye. Amy underwent further surgery to address this complication, which involved the insertion of two stents into her carotid artery.

Amy is not only a valued member of our team but also a dedicated single mother to her 13-year-old son. In the face of adversity, she has exhibited remarkable strength and resilience, undergoing physical and occupational therapy with unwavering determination to return to work full-time.

As a community, we are coming together to support Amy during this challenging time. We are organizing a fundraiser on May 4th at the Door County Sandbox, featuring a silent auction, raffles, co****le tournament and live music from Whiskey Ditch in the evening. The proceeds from this event will directly contribute to covering Amy's medical expenses, rehabilitation costs, and daily living needs as she continues on her journey to recovery.

🌽 Co****le Tournament at 11am. Sign up on the Scoreholio app

🎁 Drawings and silent auction every hour on the hour from 11am-10pm

🎶 Whiskey Ditch live music 8pm-11pm

We are still accepting donations to the silent auction and raffle. Your donation, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference in Amy's life and help alleviate the financial burden she faces. Please reach out to [email protected] to contribute. If you can't attend but would like to send a check with a monetary donation, please mail it to Door County Sandbox at 1023 Egg Harbor Rd, Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235.

We hope to see lots of you at this event that will be fun AND help a wonderful woman get back on her feet after taking a crippling blow. We know our community will rally around her and give her all the support we can! See you on May 4! And please share to help us spread the word!
